KPIT Technologies Interview Experience for Associate Engineer (On-Campus)

Last Updated : 14 Aug, 2023

KPIT visited our campus in July 2023 for recruiting 2024 batch students. The whole process was stretched for 15 days, which included the following:

  • Registration
  • Online assessment
  • Technical round
  • HR round

1) Registration

It was done by individuals on a superset platform. Included uploading of resumes and other necessary documents and information.

2) Online assessment

It consists of

  • mcq around your subjects (For example, ENTC people will have MCQs about VLSI, amplifier, etc.)
  • Aptitude (Tricky, needed enough time to understand and solve them)
  • Two coding questions ( I would rate them as easy level if you have done a decent amount of coding practice. Although I Solved one fully and other partially. One was on the map and the other was on arrays.)
  • A section where you were given a topic and you have to write on it, in limited time. A min and max limit of words was provided.
  • A section (had 3 sub-sections) where various puzzle games were given with very limited time.

I thought I won't be shortlisted because I was not able to solve the second coding question fully. Yet I was selected. 94 were selected out of 231. I believe there was an overall and a section-wise cutoff involved.

3) Technical round

It was a virtual mode interview on superset. First It was scheduled for 1:30 PM, then moved to 2:30 PM, and finally was scheduled for 5:00 PM. The interviewer started off by introducing himself.

  • can you please introduce yourself
  • asked in detail about one of the two internships? And cross-questioned about the problem solved. Also asked my contribution to that and how it helped the company.
  • Do you know about embedded c?
  • what is the main difference between c and C++?
  • How the oops concept is implemented.
  • what is polymorphism?
  • can you explain in detail about one of your projects?
  • What do you understand by the word "electronics".
  • What is the work of an amplifier?
  • Explain the difference between the semiconductor devices: diode and transistor.
  • What is the key difference between a microcontroller and a microprocessor?
  • write me a program to find if a number is odd or even using the modulo operator. ( I explained the concept of "%" along with writing the code, why and where we use it, and gave suitable examples.)
  • Do you have any questions for me? ( We actually had a great discussion about the competitors of KPIT and KPIT's strong global presence.)

If you are thinking about why there were electronics-related questions. Let me be clear, I am an ENTC student thus such questions can often be asked to test the presence of mind towards the main subjects.

There were other questions apart from the above-mentioned. I don't remember them.

The count was not disclosed, most people got the call for the HR round.

4) HR round

Almost after 5-6 days, HR round interview was scheduled on superset.

  • How you are doing?
  • How is the weather there?
  • The interviewer introduces himself.
  • Asked me to explain a little about my background in terms of academics and skills.
  • Discussed my work at both internships. ( Explained it in very detail and got cross-questioned for the same. I can say it took more than 10 min around this only.)
  • Have you faced any conflict of interest during your course of internship with "X" company? (I explained one scenario.)
  • How you handled it.
  • Did you miss any deadlines during your internship? ( I completed my projects on time and took some extra work on them.)
  • ok, So any deadline you missed during your assessment submission in college? How you handle it. (I explained the situation once I was in, and the approach I used to tackle that.)
  • It was nice talking to you, do you have any questions for me? ( Had a good discussion around work culture and the superiority of KPIT in the automotive industry.)

There were a few other questions too.

So finally after 4-5 days, the results were out. 50 were selected. I was one of them.
