Round 1: Aptitude Test

The initial round was an online aptitude test lasting approximately 90 minutes. It comprised three sections: Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability. Topics in the Quantitative section included percentages, time and work, and probability. The Logical Reasoning section featured puzzles, series, and data interpretation questions. Verbal Ability covered grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. To prepare, I used R.S. Aggarwal's Quantitative Aptitude book and practised with online mock tests, focusing on time management and accuracy.

Round 2: Technical Test

The second round involved a technical test with coding questions. I had to write code in C++ and Java. The test covered data structures like arrays, linked lists, sorting algorithms, and basic SQL queries. My preparation included practising coding on platforms like GeeksforGeeks and LeetCode, as well as reviewing data structures and algorithms through tutorials and books.

Round 3: Technical Interview

In-depth questions were asked about the projects listed on my resume. I explained the technologies used, my role, and the challenges faced. I also solved a coding problem on the spot and discussed databases, operating systems, and networking concepts. To prepare, I thoroughly revised my projects, practised coding on HackerRank and CodeChef, and reviewed the operating systems and networking concepts.

Round 4: HR Interview

The HR interview was friendly and conversational. I introduced myself, discussed career aspirations, and explained why I wanted to join HCL. Situational questions, such as handling difficult team members, were asked. My preparation involved researching HCL's history, mission, and recent projects, and practising answers to common HR questions. I also considered how my long-term career goals aligned with the company.
