Genpact Interview Experience

Last Updated : 21 May, 2024

In September 2023, Genpact graced our college with the opportunity to vie for a software developer role, unfolding a four-stage selection odyssey.

Stage 1: The Preliminary Challenge

  • MCQs and Coding Mashup: The inaugural round presented a blend of 8 MCQs, encompassing number series, patterns, and arithmetic, alongside a coding conundrum of medium difficulty, reminiscent of a tweaked Leetcode problem, all squeezed into a 60-minute window.
  • The Shortlist Reveal: A suspenseful three-day wait culminated in the revelation of 103 out of 2000 hopefuls advancing to the subsequent round.

Stage 2: The Group Discussion Gauntlet

  • Campus Convening: The second act summoned us back to campus, commencing at the stroke of 10 p.m., where we were segmented into groups, each comprising a minimum of 10 aspirants.
  • Divergent Discourse: Topics bifurcated between the realms of social media and the dichotomy of remote versus office work, sparking a one-by-one introductory prelude to a collective debate.
  • The Decisive Cull: This round proved to be a formidable filter, whittling the contenders down to 45, myself included.

Stage 3: The Technical Interrogation

  • Personal Prelude: The technical interview embarked with self-introductions before plunging into the depths of databases, demanding discourse on normal forms, ACID properties, and SQL queries for fetching the second-highest salary.
  • OOPs and OS Inquisition: The interrogation then veered towards object-oriented programming principles, contrasting abstraction with interfaces, and exploring exception handling, followed by operating system queries on scheduling algorithms, paging, and deadlocks.
  • Project Probe: My resume served as a springboard for project-related inquiries, spanning machine learning models to web development fundamentals, React intricacies, APIs, and the nuances of HTTP versus HTTPS.
  • Sage Advice: Ensure your resume reflects genuine expertise and prepare to discuss and defend every listed skill or project.

Stage 4: The HR Finale

  • Brevity Under the Moonlight: The HR interview, brief yet intense, unfolded late into the night, probing my background, resilience in the face of rejection, future aspirations, and response to more lucrative propositions.
  • The Oversight: My lapse in researching Genpact’s background was my Achilles’ heel when questioned about the company.

Alas, only 13 emerged victorious in securing a spot at Genpact, and fate decreed I was not among them.
