On August 21st, 2024, I had the opportunity to interview with EY for a consultant role during their recruitment drive at Sister Nivedita University. The process was both insightful and challenging, consisting of four rounds, with around 300 students shortlisted after the first two rounds.
Round 1: Aptitude Test
The first round focused on basic aptitude questions, covering topics such as OOPs, DSA, OS, and reasoning. Additionally, there were two coding questions—one based on strings and the other on arrays—both of easy to moderate difficulty.
Round 2: English Versant Test
In this round, I used a Bluetooth microphone to respond to various types of questions, which included reading comprehension, listening comprehension, repeating words, and correcting grammatical errors.
Round 3: Technical Interview
After a long wait (my interview, scheduled for 9:00 a.m., wasn’t conducted until 4:00 p.m.), I finally had my technical interview.
- Topics Covered: My project, specifically the user authentication system built with Express.js and bcrypt, along with questions on cybersecurity.
- Challenges: While I could answer questions about my project, I wasn’t fully prepared for the cybersecurity questions.
Round 4: HR Round
Unfortunately, I did not make it to the HR round. However, I realized the importance of being thoroughly prepared for both the technical aspects of your projects and broader topics like cybersecurity, even if they don’t seem directly relevant. It's also crucial to be well-versed in core concepts like OOPs and SQL, as many of my peers were asked about these.
Outcome:
Of the 300 students interviewed, 67 were selected for the consultant role, which came with a salary package of 4.8 LPA. While I wasn’t selected, I gained valuable experience and insight into the process. This on-campus opportunity was organized by my college, which is affiliated with MAKAUT. Though I wasn’t successful this time, I remain determined and hopeful for better results in the future.
