After the training we had 10 days of gap and then we had our interviews .
My interview slot was from 9 am to 6 pm and we will be called randomly anytime in that given slot . We will be told to open our superset accounts and will be told to be online and when we get the interview call we have to accept it . There will be two interviewers ( one in person and another interviewer will be joined in the superset interview call )
Coming to the interview ... both the HR interview and technical interview has been conducted at the same time ( not sure if this is same for everyone because from what i have read online the HR and technical interviews were conducted at different days for few) .
The interviewer first asked for my self intro ( keep it simple by just telling them your name , your skills and your projects )
1 . Did you give any bribes to anyone in this company for this job? (I don't even know if that's a reasonable question for a student but yeah anyways.. )
2. Why Cognizant?
Do your own research about the company before the interview and try to give a good straight to the point answer so that you can make a good impression by letting them know that you are not just giving this interview because of the reputation of the company .
3. Can you tell about Java features?
4. Datatypes in Java?
5. What are wrapper classes?
6. What is Autoboxing and Unboxing?
7. Program : Take two ArrayLists , add elements to the ArrayLists , add the common elements in both of the ArrayLists to another ArrayList and print it .
8. What happens if we write the main class as "private class Main" instead of public ? Will it run ? If not , why ?
9. Can you tell the difference between "private" and "default" ?
10. Difference between abstract classes and an interface ?
11. Difference between "==" and ".equals( )" ?
12. What does "Scanner" do ?
13. How to do a delete operation in SQL ?
14. Can you tell some Object methods ?
15. Can you explain any Design pattern ?
16. What is Hibernate used for ?
17. Where are String Literals stored in Java ?
18. Can you relocate to any location given for you ? Do you have any preferred locations ?
19. Since we will be working with foreign clients there is a chance where you will have to work at different time standards .. most of the time it does not happen but can you work if you have to ?
My interview ended here and i might have missed few questions . I have answered 80% of the questions and I am waiting for the results .
Tips for my dear fellow students :
Guys from whatever experience I got from this interview I can give you some little suggestions that may help you a lot .
Interviewers don't look for students who know the basics of deep concepts . They look for the students who have deep knowledge in basic concepts . Listen guys .. we are freshers and it's ok to not know everything and its ok if you have low CGPA than other students who got selected for this interview . You don't have to have more knowledge than all of the students who got selected . Your CGPA and all of that only matters for the shortlisting and for the interview you just have to be thorough with the things you have learnt .
So search of most asked interview questions online and test yourself how many you can answer . If you are unable to answer any of them . Just learn them now!! Its ok , its never too late .
Open your book , search for most asked basic Java interview questions , write the answers in your book , learn them and practice the programs well .
DO NOT SHOW THE INTERVIEWER THAT YOU ARE TENSED !! Be confident .. Because you and I know that you have given your everything for this interview and that you have prepared well . So why get tensed ? YOU GOT THIS ! YOU WILL CRACK THIS INTERVIEW FOR SURE !
Finally CONGRATULATIONS for getting selected for the interview and ALL THE BEST for the interview .
Do well ! Will be grateful if this post helped you guys .
