Amazon Wow Interview Experience

Last Updated : 22 May, 2024

I applied for Amazon Wow during my fourth year of BTech, and soon after, I received the assessment link.

If you’re a woman pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, this program is a fantastic opportunity. Here, I'll share my journey.

Round 1: Online Test

The first round was an online test that included technical MCQs and two coding questions, designed to evaluate our knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) and programming skills. The test had 28 MCQs on programming languages and DSA, along with two coding questions to be completed in 90 minutes.

I completed the online assessment, and a few days later, I received an email inviting me to the technical interview.

Round 2: Technical Interview

During the technical interview, the interviewer asked me to introduce myself and then introduced himself. He asked me to share my screen on a coding platform provided by Amazon, accessible only to us. He wondered which programming language I was comfortable with and then gave me a coding task.

The coding question was to write a program to identify islands on a map, similar to Google Maps. He encouraged me to take my time and think through the problem. Although I wasn’t well-prepared for such advanced topics, I tried my best. The interviewer was very patient and even helped guide me, but my code wasn’t very efficient.

I didn’t pass this round, but the experience taught me a lot. The interviewer was very patient and explained the code thoroughly, which sparked my interest in learning DSA.

This was a great opportunity, and I suggest other women take advantage of it to get into a dream company like Amazon. Start learning DSA, do some mock interviews, and most importantly, be confident.

Good luck!
