Product description

[60's Selection Captured Carmen Over Grease]
The 1960s Carmen McClee is a powerful enemy when heading. This album is based on the masterpiece "SOMETHING WONDERFUL" and includes precious rare items at the time, making it the perfect CD for enjoying the climax of the carmen. The 8 tracks in the early half have been recorded as the "SOMETHING WONDERFUL". Sings dramatic in medley format, including Essel Merman, Pearl Bailey, Ella Logan (Aunt Loss). The oily chanting and the orchestra of Buddy Bregman has rich sounds. (9) Since it comes with bonus tracks, some TV performance is recorded. The Seronious Monk song (17) is a must have for all vocal fans. (From jazzyell)

Nice tribute to Broadway's grande dames...

Ms. McRae recorded a number of fine albums during her long career, but this 1962 tribute to Broadway's grande dames (Pearl Bailey, Mary Martin, Ethel Merman, etc.) somehow misses the mark.

Despite Buddy Bregman's superb arrangements (they're the reason I bought the CD in the first place), these songs don't quite represent Carmen's best work. She made a better mark as a jazz singer (as her later recordings will attest).
