    ①戦後フランクフルト学派は亡命先のアメリカきら戻り、社会研究所を再開した。ホルクハイマーも、アドルノも戦前の社会批判は影を潜め、穏健な左翼思想家に変貌した。著作の社会的政治的な影響力を考慮し、慎重な態度を取ったのである。しかし、最早フランクフルト学派でない。アドルノは文芸評論家になっていた。

    ②著作に代わり、討議を倫理として提起したのがハーバーマスである。討議は著作と異なり、相手との対話であり、明確な結論は重要語ではない。どれだけ中身の濃い議論が出来たかが、重要なのだ。記録されなければ、残ることもなく、批判も免れる。しかも、討論なので、自分だけに責任はない。このスタンスがちょうど良い。

    ③それでも著作は重要である。『公共性の構造転換』がベストである。西洋近代哲学、西洋近代の理性批判が本領なのだ。

    お勧めの一冊だ。

    まとまりよく丁寧で易しい言葉で書かれているのが親しみやすい。とはいえ、よくあるタイトルの哲学者の人生と学説と本人の感想をまぜこぜにした啓蒙書とは違う。

    ハーバーマスのもつ広大な知的領野にある複数の水脈を辿りながら、ハーバーマス思想の相貌を明らかにしてくれる。ヘーゲル弁証法への拘りを捨てて、より超越論的な視点=カント的な視点をコミュニケーションにおける討議において実現しようとするハーバーマスの趣旨がよく説明されていたと思う。興味深いのは、論争相手、ガダマーやルーマンとの論争を使いながら論点を示してくれる。オースティンからの流れを抑えた解説も分かりやすい。

    個人的に面白かったのは、2000年頃まで自分はハーバーマスはヘーゲルの精神現象学をコミュニケーション、とくに日常言語学派の方法論を使ってやり直していくのかと思っていたし、『コミュニケイション論』を読む限り多少そんな強引な解釈をしていた。しかし『討議倫理』など読むと酷くカント臭が強く面食らった。カントとヘーゲルは案外近いこともあって誤解してたが、やはり、ハーバーマスは、大きくカントへ移行したのだろう。日本でも廣松渉や柄谷行人がカントにかなり近づいたことを思うと20世紀末期の思考とはカント的になるのだと思った。
