    　本を愛する人、週に最低１度でも本屋さんに行かないと、どうにも落ち着かない人におすすめ！

    　・・・と、言いたいところだが、BLネタがちらほらあるので、そういうのが苦手な方は要注意～。

    　自分のコミックスを大量発注し、スキあらば平積みしようとする番子さん。

    　本当は王子様モノが大好きなのに、「売れ筋だから」とマッチョ＆鬼畜系BLばかりでコーナーを作ったはいいが、お客からあらぬ誤解をされてしまうハチさん。

    　読書家で、「もう、ぼくん家、本が入らなくて」と読んだ本を片っ端からごみ箱に捨ててしまう（！）店長さん。

    　そして、書店へやってくるおかしな＆危ない客たち（本・文具を買いにくる客ばかりでなく、マーガリンを買いにくる客も！）。

    　版元・取次に本を発注すれば数通りに入荷せず、どころか放置プレイをくらう。雑誌が入荷すれば、ふろくがセット組されていない。

    　「気の毒・・・」と思いつつ、ゲラゲラ笑って、でも万引きをして泣く少女や、傍若無人に暴れまわるチビッ子とそれを叱りもしない親たちのエピソードには「うーん」と考えさせられる。

    　腹立ちエピソードも面白おかしく番子さん流に味付けされているが、実際のところ、書店員さんたちのご苦労はこの程度ではないだろう（私も職種は違えど、かつて版元・取次と客の間に立って泣かされ、モンスターペアレントに手を焼かされた）。

    　それでも、本と本を愛する人たちのため、日々奮闘する番子さんたち。そんなエピソードの中にあって、「本屋さんのちいさな幸せ」にはホッとさせられる。

    　朝早く出勤して、誰もいない店内で立ち読みをする番子さん。笑顔が本当に幸せそう。

    　「ああ、本屋さんに行きたいなあ・・・」と気が付けば、こちらもソワソワウズウズ。そしたら、本の中で番子さんとハチさんがニヤリと笑って、「まいど♡」と言った（ような気がする）。

    　噂は聞いていながら、またエッセイ・マンガかい？　みたいな疑問もあって、手を出さなかったんですが、読んでみたら確かに読めた。

    　この作者、相当の知性の持ち主だと思う。一緒に読んでいた身近な人が、「ちょっと三浦しをんみたいな匂いがする」って呟いてたけど、確かにそうですね。

    　作者が書店バイトしてたのが2000年から2006年だそうで、しかしこれってある意味、リアル書店の後退期ですよね。

    　アマゾンの日本上陸が2000年ですけど、私の周りのフツーの人がフツーにネット書店を利用しだすまでには、たぶん数年かかったんじゃないでしょうか(年配の人はいまだに使えてませんね)。注文した本がすぐに入荷しないって話を扱った「星に願いを発注を」に、「え〜〜っ、じゃあどーすればいいんですか〜〜!?」「ア●ゾンがあるじゃん!!(禁句)」っていうやり取りがあるけど(ｐ117)、それがシャレでなく脅威になるのは、作者がバイト辞めた頃じゃないかな。私自身の経験ですが、10年くらい前、リアル書店でちょっと入手しにくい本を取り寄せる相談をしてたら、書店員が「ア●ゾンで買うって手もあります」って言ったんで、心の中で「オイ」と呟いてしまったことがあります。

    　あともう一つ問題なのが、いわゆる新古書店の動きで、これは2000年頃でもかなり意識されてたと思う。万引きを扱った「万引き千年戦争」(p41)にも、万引きには「欲しいから盗った」というタイプと、「新古書店への転売を目的とした万引き」(p43)があると説明されてて、こっちの方が深刻だった様子。

    　ちなみに、作者がバイトしてる書店の店長さんは読書家なんだけど、読んだ本をポイポイとゴミ箱に捨ててたそうで、私にはちょっと衝撃的だった。でもこれって、「新古書店なんかに回すもんか」っていう無意識の抵抗だったのかもｗ

    　この十数年で書店の淘汰や世代交代はかなり進んだ印象で、現在はある種の均衡状態なのかな。いや、全然根拠なく言ってるんで、私の言うことなんか信用しないで、ご自分でお調べくださいね。

    神は細部にやどるやパレスメイジシリーズの前、最初の頃に書かれた作品ですが、読み返して面白いな、、と思い、２冊セットで購入しました。読み返しても、うんうんそうだよねと相槌をうちたくなる話がたくさんあり、本屋あるあるの面白いエッセイコミックです。
