    二人殺せば地獄行きの設定にも驚きましたが、人間がよく書けていることにも驚きました。

    近頃の本格ミステリは登場人物が生き生きとしていてロジックも面白いことが特徴ですが、

    この作者特有のエモさと丁寧なロジックがふんだんに詰め込まれています。

    本格ミステリが好きなひとはこれを読むべきだと思います。面白いです。

    主人公の〈探偵〉青岸 焦（あおぎし こがれ）がこの特殊な世界の有りようについて色々悩むところとか、異様な風貌の天使の役割とか、その辺のことがあまりピンと来なくて、中盤までは読みづらかったですね。

    頁をめくる手が速くなり出したのは、探偵事務所の同僚たちに寄せる青岸の思いが半端ないぞってことが身に染みてきた後半からっすね。彼の気持ちが、常世島（とこよじま）での連続殺人事件の謎を解くことに前向きになっていくのに引っ張られる感じで、終盤はぐいぐい読んでいくことができました。

    とりわけ、〈真犯人〉の人となりが魅力的だったなあ。探偵によって明らかになるその人物像と行動が、強く印象に残りました。

    それと、詳しくは言えないんだけど、事件の真相のひとつが明かされるところ（文庫本で336頁～337頁辺り）、ここには「あっ！」となりました。意表を突かれたし、ビジュアル的にもなかなか凄ぇ光景だわなあと。

    最後の「エピローグ」の〈 1 〉のくだりも、とても良かった。胸にぐっと来て、目頭熱くなりましたもん。

    影山 徹の文庫本カバーイラストも、良いっす。空を舞う〝天使〟ってのがね、うんうん、まさにこんな感じなんですよ。

    これまでに斜線堂有紀作品は数作品読んできましたが、これは個人的には合いませんでした。二度殺人を犯した者は天使に地獄へ送られる、設定は良かったですが、他はかなり地味。個人的には退屈でした。

    これまでの斜線堂作品は胸を揺さぶられるような感動だったり、切なさが読後感にあったのですが、この作品にはそれがありません。

    私が大好きな小説家を殺すまで。

    夏の終わりに君が死ねば完璧だったから。

    恋に至る病。

    などの作品が好きな方には合わないと思います。

    上記の作品、ライト文芸とはことなり、こちらの作品はかなり本格的とでもいいましょうか。ライト文芸を求めている方には違うかもしれません。

    かといって本格的なミステリーを求めている方には少々物足りないと思います。

    昔から探偵小説は苦手だ。何となれば事件に探偵の必然性を感じないからだが…物語では天使降臨の後の探偵の必要性を苦悶する探偵が登場し「…事件に巻き込まれた人を幸せにするのが役目…」などと穿ったような解釈に辿り着く場面もみられる。キャンベルの時代にはＳＦとミステリーの両立は不可能とされ、その後クレメントの『二十億の針』に始まりベスターやアシモフに依ってＳＦ探偵小説の歴史が築かれてきたが、この作品は謎解きの為に天使と云う舞台装置を前提とした処が変わっている。そして最後まで死の不条理を訴えかけているように感じた。
