    宇宙をあきらめ切れない思いがあることは分かるけれど、今は表面には出ない政情不安の中にあるような気がする。お金では解決できない政治上の問題でNASAもおおっぴらにはできないのが今の宇宙開発のような気がする。物語には夢はあるが文章の進み具合からするとマスクもベゾフも開発は止めてしまうようのでわないかと思ってしまった。それが残念な気がする。

    　宇宙に行くのが最終目的と定め、まず情報産業で金を稼ぎ、その金でロケットを作り始める。まるでマンガのストーリーのようだが現実なのだ。これが21世紀のアメリカンドリームか。二人の巨人の成功を期待する。

    　なお訳文におかしいところがあるので指摘しておく。液体酸素燃料・液体窒素燃料の記述がいくつもあるがこれは間違い。酸素は酸化剤、ケロシン（灯油）が燃料、両方合わせて推進剤（プロペラント）、というのが正しい。液体窒素は燃やさずに（燃えないが）噴射して姿勢制御をするために使われる。

    IT業界で成功した2人の天才による宇宙への挑戦を描いた本です。日本でも時折ニュースになる2人の宇宙への夢やいまの取り組みが詳しくまとめられています。

    邦題にベゾズ vs　マスクと入っていますが、2人は対立しているというよりも、宇宙事業に対してそれぞれ違うアプローチ（本の中でマスクは兎、ベゾズは亀に例えられています）でパイオニアにならんとする挑戦をしているという印象を受けました。

    NASAができなかった再生可能なロケット（打ち上げた後にまた着陸できるロケット）の開発になぜ民間企業が成功できたのか？理由は色々と説明することができますが、もっとも重要な要素は「不可能だと思えることに挑戦し、どんなリスクや困難があろうとも成功できるまで決して諦めない」、情熱と実行力だと感じました。

    僕は、子供の頃に抱いた夢を、まず別のことで成功してから、子供の頃の夢を叶える為に挑戦する、その思考・行動パターンが興味深く思いました。

    子供の頃に抱いた夢は、自分が本当にやりたいことである確率がもっとも高いと思います。そしてそれを歳をとってからもう一度挑戦する、その方法の実践の仕方も人それぞれやり方がある、と思いました。
