    ２０２４年１１月、楳図かずお氏は亡くなられました。追悼もあって読み直したのですが、もう言うまでもない傑作。冒頭で狂気に陥り生徒を殺していく先生、普段の日常では親切な給食のおじさんだった関谷が、実は深いコンプレックスと憎しみを教師にも生徒にも抱いていた（逆に言えば、教師も生徒も彼と親しみつつ実はどこか馬鹿にしていた）ことからひたすらサディスティックな権力者に代わっていく恐ろしさ、食糧不足から殺人とカニバリズムにまで至る生徒たちなど、とにかく、「人間性の恐ろしさ」をとことんまで描いた傑作。そして、「一つ目」のクリーチャーはその造形も見事ですが、ある種の「新しい人類の発生」「意識の個人ではなく共同体での共有」という、ある種のカルト宗教的な世界すら感じさせます。

    しかし、この地獄のような未来から生徒たちを最後に救うのが、母と子供の愛情、そして生徒たちが自分たちの使命感にどん底で覚醒する決断でした。ある意味、これほど、絶望の極致の中で希望を生み出した作品は少ない。楳図かずおは傑作をたくさん生みだした巨匠ですが、やはり、私がまず第一におすすめしたいのがこの作品。

    １巻は、教室が漂流するに至った事の起こりであったり、登場人物の関係性の形成であったりが、あの絵柄で展開されています。

    巻末を見ると、昭和４７年に連載されており、当時読んだ記憶はないので読んだ記憶はもう少し後のことだと思うのですが、描かれていることをどんなふうに感受したのか、あるいはほとんどザルだったのか気になりました。というのも、ほとんどザルだった場合、何が５０年後にまた読み返してみようという気を起こさせたのか、にこの作品の本質があるようなないような気がしたからです。

    レビュー投稿時（2022年）、楳図かずお先生の大規模な美術展が開かれており、先生の作品を次々に読み進めています。Amazonさんは、楳図先生の作品を（かなり古い作品も含めて）多数kindle版で販売してくださっており、本当に感謝しています。

    さて、「漂流教室」は、ある日突然、小学校ごと別の時空へと送られてしまった子供たち（＋少数の大人たち）のドラマです。連載開始は1972年、当時も大評判となっていましたが、少年誌の連載ということもあり、私は今に至るまでまとめて読んだことがありませんでした。kindle版で気軽に買えるようになっていたため、6冊まとめて購入しました。

    1巻目を読み始めてから、心をわしづかみにされ…途中で止められず…2日ほどで全巻読み通してしまいました！

    大地震を思わせるような始まり、閉塞感からむき出しになる子供たち、大人たちの本性、恐怖、冒険、勇気、知恵、近未来の廃墟、愛…　今や、動画チャンネルで手の込んだ映像のドラマが多数放映されていますが、この「漂流教室」は、スケールといい近未来を見通す目の確かさといい、引けをとらないどころか超えています。こんなすごい作品だったとは…　と、連載から半世紀を過ぎた今頃になって、震えあがっています。

    「まだ読んだことがない」とか「とびとびにしか読んだことがない」という方！ぜひ6巻まとめて読んでみてください！めちゃくちゃ面白いです！特にkindle版は文字も絵も拡大できるので、おススメです。
