    著者の本は売れているせいで品薄なのか，特殊なカテゴリーとしての扱い（漫画，新書，エッセイ？）で書棚に置く場所がないのか，田舎の本屋で捜すのは意外に苦労します．店員さんに，「司馬先生の本はないですか？」と聞けても，「辛酸さんの本は置いてありますか？」とは聞きづらい（”ん”が3つは発音しづらい！）ので，自力で講談社文庫コーナーで見つけた本書を手に取りました．

    　

    「人は女に生まれるのではない。女になるのだ．」（ボーヴォワール『第二の性』より）と昔から喧伝されていますが，現代は女性が女性であることの本質に目覚め，女性としてのジェンダーの高みからものごとを表現する自由な時空が広がっています．男性より成熟と進化のスピードが速く，女性の方が文明の果実を謳歌しているように思えます．

    本書は母親や姉妹からの学びの機会を逸した奥手の乙女が，悪い編集者や悪友に騙されて女性専科の現場を取材した奮闘記です．著者が経験した女性修行は様々で，テーブルマナー，ベリーダンス，保育士体験，婦人科検診，セレブ体験，発声訓練，部屋の片づけ訓練，介護施設見学etc.と多岐に渡ります．いずれも女性らしさを磨き，ひとりで生きていくことを覚悟した女性が体験すべき旅の日記です．この体験記を通じてすべての消費財やサービスは女性の嗅覚や視覚に訴えるように仕掛けがなされていると感じました．それにひきかえ，男の世界は窮屈で退屈だと思いました．

    最後に，著者は女としての魅力のなさを卑下していますが，地方在住者の審美眼からは決して容姿が見劣りするわけではありません．自他ともに認めているように，宮家の風貌に似ているとのことですので，伝統的弥生人としての自負を大切に腐らずに頑張って欲しいと思います．
