The Department of Justice has filed an official complaint alleging misconduct by US District Court Chief Judge James Boasberg. Fox News has reviewed the complaint which was written by Attorney General Pam Bondiโs Chief of Staff Chad Mizelle and addressed to the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Sri Srinivasan.
Judge Boasberg is presiding over a high-profile case involving the deportation of several migrants to El Salvador and has talked about holding DOJ lawyers in contempt because of his assertion that his order to turn airborne planes around was not followed. NEW: The Manhattan shooting gunman had a suicide note in his back pocket alleging that he suffered from CTE, a brain disease linked to head trauma, and expressed grievances with the National Football League, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.
In the note, he also asked for his brain to be studied.
The gunman has been identified by police as 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura from Las Vegas. Police said Tamuraโs motives are still under investigation, and that he had โa documented mental health history.โ
Tamura was a competitive football player in his youth, multiple sources told CNN.
The short note was scribbled over three pages and found by investigators after the shooting, the source said.
โTerry Long football gave me CTE and it caused me to drink a gallon of antifreeze,โ the shooter wrote, according to the source. โYou canโt go against the NFL, theyโll squash you.โ
Terry Long, a former football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was diagnosed with CTE. He died by suicide after drinking antifreeze in 2005.
โStudy my brain please Iโm sorry Tell Rick Iโm sorry for everything,โ the note said, according to the source.

As promised, Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley on Monday introduced legislation that would send at least $600 to every American adult and child in the form of a tariff rebate check that is similar to pandemic-era stimulus checks.
Hawley co-authored the legislation creating COVID-19 pandemic stimulus checks in 2020, alongside Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, which provided Americans with up to $1,200 to help with financial hardships created by the pandemic. The new bill echoes the stimulus legislation.
The move comes after President Donald Trump told reporters last week he would be interested in sending Americans tariff-related rebate checks, though he did not indicate how much those would be.

Of course they did๐: Democrats on the U.S. Senate's health committee launched an investigation on Tuesday into Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s firing of all members of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention panel of vaccine experts.
Kennedy last month fired the 17 members of the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which reviews vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration before making recommendations to the CDC on their use. Kennedy replaced them with hand-picked advisers including anti-vaccine activists.
"The harm your actions will cause is significant. As your new ACIP makes recommendations based on pseudoscience, fewer and fewer Americans will have access to fewer and fewer vaccines," Democrats on the Senate's Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee wrote to Kennedy in a letter reviewed by Reuters.
A spokesperson for Senator Bernie Sanders said committee Democrats launched the investigation after Senator Bill Cassidy, the committee's Republican chairman, denied his call for a bipartisan investigation. Cassidy's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Two of the largest US railroads, Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern, announced on Tuesday a plan to combine in a $72 billion deal that would create Americaโs first transcontinental freight railroad.
The stock and cash deal would be the largest ever in a sector that has already massively consolidated in recent decades. The deal still needs regulatory approval and will serve as a major test for the Trump administrationโs antitrust regulators, who have appeared more willing than the Biden administration to approve mergers in certain industries, even if they reduce significant market competitors.
US freight railroads are crucial to Americaโs economy, carrying about 30% of the nationโs freight in terms of weight, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Trains transport autos, retail goods, food and energy products, as well as raw materials and parts needed to run Americaโs factories.

Two top Justice Department antitrust officials have been ousted, multiple sources told CBS News.
Monday's firings follow internal tension CBS News previously reported on within the Justice Department's antitrust division, which investigates companies for anticompetitive behavior and sues to prevent monopolies.
The officials, Roger Alford and Bill Rinner, were both top deputies to Assistant Attorney General Gail Slater, who leads the team. Alford was principal deputy assistant attorney general and Rinner served as a deputy assistant attorney general and head of merger enforcement. Both officials served in the antitrust division during President Trump's first term.
It was unclear why they were fired, but sources said insubordination was cited in the dismissals. The two officials had been placed on administrative leave last week.
Slater, who in March took charge of lawsuits against Capital One, Apple, Google and other major companies as head of the Justice Department's antitrust division, still had support from some top officials in the administration, CBS News reported earlier this month. But she and some on her team have been a target of criticism from colleagues and business leaders, according to sources inside and outside the administration.

The Trump administration has terminated more than half of all federal funding for gun violence prevention programs in the U.S., cutting $158 million in grants that had been directed to groups in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, DC, and Baltimore.
Of the 145 community violence intervention (CVI) grants totaling more than $300 million awarded through the U.S. Department of Justice, 69 grants were abruptly terminated in April, according to government data analyzed by Reuters.
The elimination of CVI programs is part of a broader rollback at the department's grant-issuing Office of Justice Programs, which terminated 365 grants valued at $811 million in April, impacting a range of public safety and victim services programs.
A DOJ official told Reuters the gun violence grants were eliminated because they "no longer effectuate the program's goals or agency's priorities." Thousands of Office of Justice Programs grants are under review, the official said, and are being evaluated, among other things, on how well they support law enforcement and combat violent crime.

United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer is preparing to unveil a plan to recognize Palestine as a state.
Starmer will give a detailed outline of what would be required for Palestine to be recognized, while also discussing UK efforts to assist in getting aid to Gaza amid starvation, The Telegraph reported.
The prime minister is expected to announce his proposals, which will likely include a ceasefire and Hamas' release of Israeli hostages, for Palestinian state recognition.
However, a third of Labour Party members of parliament and Starmer's Cabinet members have been pushing for the immediate recognition of Palestine.

JUST IN๐ฅ: President Donald Trumpโs administration on Tuesday proposed revoking a scientific finding that has long been the central basis for U.S. action to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and fight climate change.
The proposed Environmental Protection Agency rule rescinds a 2009 declaration that determined that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare.
The โendangerment findingโ is the legal underpinning of a host of climate regulations under the Clean Air Act for motor vehicles, power plants and other pollution sources that are heating the planet.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the proposed rule change on a podcast ahead of an official announcement set for Tuesday in Indiana.
Repealing the endangerment finding โwill be the largest deregulatory action in the history of America,โ Zeldin said on the Ruthless podcast.
Zeldin called for a rewrite of the endangerment finding in March as part of a series of environmental rollbacks announced at the same time in what Zeldin said was โthe greatest day of deregulation in American history.โ' A total of 31 key environmental rules on topics from clean air to clean water and climate change would be rolled back or repealed under Zeldinโs plan.
He singled out the endangerment finding as โthe Holy Grail of the climate change religionโ and said he was thrilled to end it โas the EPA does its part to usher in the Golden Age of American success.โ'
