Vice President JD Vance is traveling to Los Angeles on Friday as protests against the Trump administration's immigration crackdown continue to grip the city.

Vance, a Marine veteran, will tour a multi-agency Federal Joint Operations Center as well as a Federal Mobile Command Center. He will also meet with leadership and Marines before giving remarks, according to his office.

His visit comes as protests and law enforcement clash in Los Angeles over Immigration and Customs Enforcement's raids and deportations -- a key part of President Donald Trump's agenda.

BREAKING: A federal judge is ordering the release of Columbia University pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil.

U.S. District Judge Michael Farbiarz indicated that he will issue an order requiring that Khalil be released today.

He denied a motion by the government to stay the ruling for seven days.

The judge asked the parties to consult with a magistrate judge about any conditions that will be attached to Khalil's release on bail.

🤔Memphis police have released a photo of Trenton Abston, 25, is facing charges of attempted kidnapping, stalking and aggravated criminal trespass.

Online court records reviewed Friday do not show if he has hired a lawyer. Abston, who is Black, is scheduled to appear in court Monday to tell a judge if he has been able to hire an attorney.

Abston told police investigators that he waited until Sunday evening to approach Young at his home about crime in the city, saying he was angry at the mayor and armed with a Taser when he went to the home, the affidavit says.

Police found in their investigation that Abston’s vehicle was seen on video footage multiple times in the immediate area of Young’s home between May and June, the affidavit says. The subdivision has a large exterior wall, a gate, a guard house, security and video surveillance, the affidavit says.

Security footage shows that Abston scaled a wall and went directly to Young’s residence, authorities said. On Tuesday, police used law enforcement databases to identify Abston as a person of interest in the case. They confirmed his identity by showing his work manager a photo from the night of the incident, and then detained Abston at his workplace on Wednesday, the affidavit says.

The attempt happened just one day after the killing a prominent Minnesota Democratic lawmaker. The suspect charged is accused of impersonating a police officer and gunning down former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in their home outside Minneapolis.

The lawsuit further accuses Cartagena of trafficking and grooming minors, with Dixon claiming he “personally witnessed” Cartagena “engage in sexual relations with children who were fifteen and sixteen years old.” A trigger warning accompanies the filing due to its “highly graphic information of a sexual nature.”

A Michigan high school bowling coach fatally shot one of his former bowlers, who had recently graduated, inside her home before turning the gun on himself in a horrific murder-suicide last week.

Former Bedford High School’s bowling club coach Ryne Leist fatally shot 17-year-old Gwendolyn Smith multiple times at her stepfather’s Bedford Township home on June 14, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Smith’s stepfather returned home at around 6 p.m. to discover the mortally wounded teen and her alleged killer, Sheriff Troy Goodnough said during a press conference Wednesday.

The mayor of Provo, Utah, told Fox News Digital that Provo was ranked as the best-run city in a new survey because local government officials adhered to the fundamentals.

"We've always believed in getting the basics right first and that's quality schools, safe neighborhoods, well-maintained roads and responsible budgeting," Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi told Fox News Digital after financial services company WalletHub touted her city this week.

Kaufusi cited her work on public safety, noting it was a "top concern" for residents.
