ICYMI: Former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush will not attend President-elect Donald Trump's traditional inaugural lunch.

Obama received an invitation but declined to attend, according to a source familiar with the matter. Clinton also was invited but does not plan to attend, according to a second source familiar with the matter, while Bush's office said it was not tracking an invitation to the luncheon.

Former Secretary of State and first lady Hillary Clinton also received an invitation to the inaugural luncheon but will not attend, according to a third source familiar with the matter.

A spokesperson for Trump’s transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the absences.

Over half a dozen local DC-area police departments are not going to be helping to secure the capital city for the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump next week, according to a new report from the Daily Caller.

The Caller reports that some local departments will not be assisting the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in order to secure the area and that "the decision by these departments could leave MPD with hundreds fewer officers than they would typically be able to rely on for an event of this magnitude.”

MPD has said that thousands of officers will be helping provide security for the event, however, when the outlet reached out to multiple local stations in the DC area, over than a half dozen of them said they would not be helping.

One department cited a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the local police stations and MPD. A spokesman for the Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland said in a statement, “I was just told that based on the current MOU, we will not be assisting Metro PD."

Biden doesn’t appear to be resting during his final weekend in the White House. Instead, he’s pushing for a new amendment to the Constitution that would make the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) “the law of the land.”

In a statement released by the White House, Biden demanded that the United States “affirm and protect women’s full equality once and for all.”

While his point is clear in the statement, a post on his official X account had users mocking the president. The post references the 28th Amendment to the Constitution. However, the US Constitution only has 27 amendments, the last of which was ratified in 1992.

In a post on X calling the ERA the “law of the land,” implying that it is already part of the Constitution, which is not the case. Social media users were quick to point this out, with some calling the president a “dictator.”

Others online also brought up Biden’s past rhetoric about Trump being a “threat to democracy,” accusing the president of trying to “declare” an amendment into existence.

A federal appeals court on Friday dealt the immigration program known as DACA a legal setback, keeping the program alive but teeing up a showdown at the Supreme Court.

In a unanimous ruling, a three-judge panel of the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the policy was unlawful but said that a federal judge in Texas had erred in concluding that the entire program should be halted nationwide. The court instead narrowed the injunction against part of the program so it would only apply to Texas.

The ruling injects fresh uncertainty for around half a million recipients of the Obama-era program that allows undocumented immigrants who were brought to the US illegally to live and work in the United States.

The incoming Trump administration is planning a large-scale immigration raid in Chicago next week.

The raid is expected to begin on Tuesday morning and will last all week. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will send between 100 and 200 officers to carry out the operation.

The incoming Trump team intends to target immigrants in the country illegally with criminal backgrounds, and if anyone else in the country illegally is present during an arrest, they will be taken too.

Republican National Committee (RNC) Treasurer KC Crosbie was elected RNC co-chair, formally replacing Lara Trump at the committee’s winter meeting Friday in Washington, D.C. 

“I am just so blessed to follow in the footsteps of an incredible leader,” said Crosbie, who is also a Republican National Committeewoman from Kentucky, thanking Trump in her first speech as co-chair. 

Crosbie first announced her intentions to run for the position to fellow RNC members last month, according to NBC News.

Washington, D.C. is bracing for the presidential inauguration to move indoors as freezing temperatures arrive over the weekend. While the cold may deter some protesters, law enforcement and organizers told ABC News that several protests and major events are still planned throughout the weekend.

One of the largest events of the weekend is the People's March, which will take place on Saturday. The march, a feminist-led progressive movement, aims to bring attention to reproductive freedoms just days before President-elect Donald Trump's second inauguration. The event is a rebranding from the 2017 Women's March to bring attention to key issues including LGBT and reproductive rights, D.C. statehood and environmental issues. Organizers expect more than 50,000 attendees, according to permits filed with the National Park Service.

Tamika Middleton, managing director of Women's March, noted that the march is a group effort.

"We all march for different reasons, but we march for the same cause: to defend our rights and our future," she said.

"As Trump assumes the presidency in January, we are gathering to mobilize our collective power and stand against his efforts to roll back our rights and freedoms," Analilia Mejia, co-executive director of Popular Democracy in Action, said in a statement.

While Martin Luther King Jr. Day will also be observed on Monday, the fake news outlet decided that it is not sufficient enough for anti-Trumpers, and issued a “friendly reminder” on Facebook on Thursday:

“Don’t forget to wear all black on January 20th. National Day of Mourning,” the page, founded by Mexican-born brothers Omar and Rafael Rivero in 2012, stated.
