🥴CNN anchor Jim Acosta blasted President-elect Donald Trump in a news segment on Thursday while defending a free and fair press in America — declaring that journalists are “not the enemy of the people.”

“I want to take a moment to talk about something President Biden said during his farewell address,” Acosta said at the start of his nearly minute-long speech.

“He warned the free press is crumbling in this country. I would add, that’s only if we, the people, let that happen,” he continued. 

“Journalists exist to seek the truth, to tell people’s stories, to lift up voices that may not be heard otherwise, to shine a light on injustice and to hold the powerful accountable,” Acosta added.

“We are not the enemy of the people. We are the defenders of the people. Walter Cronkite once said, ‘freedom of the press is not just important to democracy. It is democracy’.”

The apparent message to Trump — which comes just days before he will be sworn in as America’s 47th president — was seemingly in response to the president-elect’s repeated comments over the last decade referring to the press as “the enemy of the people.”

House Republicans in June sent criminal referrals for James Biden and Hunter Biden to the Justice Department recommending they be charged with making false statements to Congress about "key aspects" of the impeachment inquiry of President Biden. 

Specifically, Comer at the time said the alleged false statements implicated President Biden’s "knowledge and role in his family’s influence-peddling schemes" and that they appeared "to be a calculated effort to shield Joe Biden from the impeachment inquiry."

BREAKING🚨: The Supreme Court on Friday upheld a new law that would lead to a ban of the social media platform TikTok, clearing the way for the widely popular app to be forced to shutter in the U.S. as soon as Sunday.

"We conclude that the challenged provisions do not violate the petitioners' First Amendment rights," the court said in a unanimous unsigned opinion, which upholds the lower court decision against TikTok.

The court's opinion comes days before the law, which was passed with bipartisan majorities of Congress last April, is set to take effect. TikTok and a group of content creators who use the app argued the law infringes on their free speech rights, and the Supreme Court heard arguments in their bid to block it one week ago.

The Goldman bonuses are an effort by its board to retain the CEO and COO as a senior leadership team, the company said in the filing.

JUST IN: Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is expected to select his Lt. Gov. Jon Husted to be the next senator for the Buckeye State. Husted will take the seat vacated by JD Vance, who will be sworn in as vice president on Monday alongside President Donald Trump, who will serve his second term after a four year gap filled by the Biden administration.

DeWine had been rumored to be discussing the seat with former presidential hopeful Vivek Ramawamy, who ran against Trump in the primary before dropping out of the race and throwing his full support behind the 45th president.

Husted had been planning to run for governor in 2026 as DeWine's successor. Sources told Signal Statewide that Husted, however, is the likely choice for senate.

“During the next six weeks, Israel will negotiate the necessary arrangements to get to phase two, which is a permanent end of the war,” US President Joe Biden said at the White House on Wednesday.

US officials agree that the way the deal is written doesn’t mean that the next phases are guaranteed. Should negotiations fail, they recognize that there’s a chance the war resumes but don’t see that as a foregone conclusion.

NEW: President-elect Donald Trump, in a court filing Friday, urged the Georgia Supreme Court to keep Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis disqualified from the criminal election interference case against him.

The filing from Trump's attorneys, just days before Trump's inauguration, asked the court to uphold the appeals court ruling last month that disqualified Willis over her relationship with a prosecutor on the case.

Willis asked the Georgia Supreme Court earlier this month to reverse her disqualification.

Trump's lawyers argued in Friday's filing that the trial court fashioned an "inadequate legal remedy" by allowing Willis to remain on the case if the prosecutor Nathan Wade resigned, which he did following the ruling.
