Jeff Bezos, the billionaire tech mogul and owner of The Washington Post, says he views it as a responsibility of the mainstream media to convince President-elect Trump the press is not his enemy.

“I’m going to try and talk him out of that idea,” Bezos said at the New York Times DealBook Summit on Wednesday. “I don’t think the press is the enemy.”

“You’ve probably grown in the last two years, he has too,” he told journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin during an interview. “Let’s go persuade him of this. I don’t think he’s going to see it the same way, but maybe I’ll be wrong.”

Bezos said Trump today strikes him as “calmer” than he was during his first campaign for the White House, and “more confident and settle.”

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — A pair of European satellites rocketed into orbit Thursday on the first mission to create artificial solar eclipses through fancy formation flying in space.

Each fake eclipse should last six hours once operations begin next year. That’s considerably longer than the few minutes of totality offered by a natural eclipse here on Earth, allowing for prolonged study of the sun’s corona, or outer atmosphere.

The launch took place from India.

“We are a very happy science team here” in India, the European Space Agency’s mission scientist Joe Zender said via email.

Billed as a tech demo, the two satellites will separate in a month or so and fly 492 feet (150 meters) apart once reaching their destination high above Earth, lining up with the sun so that one spacecraft casts a shadow on the other.

Iowa is suing the Biden administration over its alleged refusal to provide access to the citizenship status information of more than 2,000 registered voters whose status was questioned ahead of the 2024 election.

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird and Secretary of State Paul Pate filed the lawsuit on Tuesday, which claims U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) "would not hand over" its "list of noncitizens illegally registered to vote in Iowa."

Federal authorities' "failure meant that the State had to rely on the best — imperfect — data it had available to ensure that no Iowan’s vote was canceled by an illegal, noncitizen vote," Pate and Bird said in a joint statement.

Along with USCIS, the lawsuit names the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as defendants.

BREAKING: UnitedHealthcare CEO assassin, seen unmasked in new photos, believed to have left a message on bullet casings

The gunman wanted in the broad daylight slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is seen smiling in new surveillance images released by the New York City Police Department on Thursday.

The unknown assassin's face is shown for the first time in the two new images the NYPD released as the manhunt continues for a second day.

"With these new photos, if indeed they are the shooter, it is now only a matter of time," Fox News crime analysis contributor Paul Mauro told Fox News Digital. "Facial recognition and other technologies have come a long way, and my understanding is that the police have been making progress on other fronts in this case. It is truer than ever that you can’t get away with murder these days. The detectives will get whoever is behind this, and soon."

New evidence also suggests that the suspect who killed Thompson on Wednesday may have left a message behind on the bullet casings at the scene.

The author of a book tied to the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson refused to address the killer's apparent tribute to his tome when contacted by DailyMail.com.

Author Jay M. Feinman responded 'no comment' when asked for his take on bullet casings left at the scene of Thompson's shooting outside Manhattan's Hilton Hotel on Wednesday, which were scrawled with 'depose', 'deny' and 'defend.'

The message is eerily similar to Feinman's 2010 book 'Delay, Deny, Defend', which details 'why insurance companies don't pay claims and what you can do about it.'

Critics allege the tactic is used by insurance companies to 'ensure your claim is either never paid or paid at a rate far below what you deserve'.

Health insurance boss Thompson, 50, was shot in the back and calf early on Wednesday by a masked man who fled on a bike, before the CEO succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Feinman is a law professor at Rutgers University. It's unclear whether he had any personal impetus to write the book.

It explains how the health insurance industry routinely puts claimants off with bureaucratic tactics and, in the end, never end up paying out.

Police are yet to confirm the gunman's identity or motive.
