Identify Google Voice subscription types

You can identify which Google Voice subscription and features you have based on your user status and purchase method.

Single user plans: These versions of Google Voice don’t require a paid Workspace subscription and are only available in the US.

  • Basic Google Voice: This no-charge plan is for personal, consumer use. It requires a phone number to forward calls and includes features like voicemail transcription, unlimited domestic calls, and texts.
  • Google Voice Starter (Standalone): A plan with advanced call features like transfer and easy ad-hoc recording, 24/7 access to Voice support, and help with emergency calls.
  • Google Voice Standard (Standalone): This includes all features of Voice Starter (Standalone), plus support for auto attendants to route incoming calls.

Multiple user plans: These versions of Google Voice are available as an add-on subscription to any paid Google Workspace plan.

  • Google Voice Starter (Workspace add-on): This includes all features of Google Voice Starter (Standalone), plus support for up to 10 users in one organization.
  • Google Voice Standard (Workspace add-on): This includes all features of Google Voice Starter (Standalone), plus support for unlimited users, ring groups, and call delegation.
  • Google Voice Premier (Workspace add-on): This is designed for global enterprises and large organizations. It includes advanced enterprise-grade capabilities like:
    • Automatic call recording
    • Advanced reports and analytics through BigQuery
    • Support for international users

To sign up for Google Voice, use a personal account or an account from your work or school. Your organization might give you a Voice for Google Workspace account they manage and pay for.

Check if you have a managed Voice account

  1. On your computer, open Google Voice.
  2. At the top right, click Settings .
  3. Under "Account:"
    • If you find "This account is managed by your Google Workspace administrator:" You have a Voice for Google Workspace account and your organization handles your billing.
    • If you find "Manage my account:" You have a Voice Starter (Standalone) or Voice Standard (Standalone) account and pay for Google Voice.
    • If you don’t get either message: You have a non-charge personal account or a work or school account your organization doesn’t manage.
