Canceling your Google Ads account

You can cancel your Google Ads account at any time. All your ads will stop within 24 hours. If you have a remaining balance we'll automatically initiate a refund for any unused prepaid funds or other refundable credits. The refund process typically takes 4-12 weeks, including the time for your bank to process the credit. You can track your refund status on the "Billing Summary" page. You'll need to reactivate your account if you want to use it again in the future.

Note: If your Google Ads account has no recorded spend for more than 15 months, it'll be considered inactive and automatically canceled. Learn more About account cancelation.

Before you cancel

  • If you don't have the remaining balance in your Google ads account, consider pausing your campaigns instead of canceling your account.
  • If you're not happy with how your campaigns are performing, review the Google Ads Best Practices for optimization tips to drive better results.
  • If you want to consolidate multiple accounts into one new manager account (MCC), the email address for the new account can’t be associated with more than 5 accounts, this includes accounts that are currently in the drafting stage. You must finish setting up any existing draft accounts or use a different email address to create a new MCC.

Requirements for cancelation

  • To cancel your account, you'll need:
    • Administrative access to your account. Only users with ”Admin” access can cancel an account. If you don't find the cancellation option, check your access level or contact an administrator.

    • Administrative access to your manager account
    • Ownership of the client account you'd like to cancel

  • If your administrative access user is no longer with your company and you want to cancel your account, contact Google Ads support with the following information:

Users

  • All remarketing lists owned by the canceled account, including Customer Match, will be set to "Closed," preventing new users from being added to these lists.

  • In some countries, you may be required to fill out an additional form to get a refund, especially if you paid by bank transfer.
  • Any amounts from promotional offers are excluded from the refund amount.
