Our networks
SAPEA is a consortium of academy networks, funded by Horizon Europe, representing around 120 academies from different countries. ‘SAPEA’ stands for ‘Science Advice for Policy by European Academies’. SAPEA’s role in the Scientific Advice Mechanism is to provide independent, high-quality reviews of the evidence to inform the policy recommendations made by the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors.
Through these networks, they bring together outstanding expertise from natural sciences, engineering and technology, medical, health, agricultural and social sciences, and the humanities.
Academia Europaea
Academia Europaea is a European non-governmental association acting as an academy. Founded in 1988, it now numbers around 5500 members, including leading experts from the physical sciences and technology, biological sciences and medicine, mathematics, the letters and humanities, social and cognitive sciences, economics and the law.
ALLEA
ALLEA is the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities, representing more than 50 academies from over 40 countries in Europe. Since its foundation in 1994, ALLEA represents its Member Academies on the European stage and seeks to promote science as a global public good.
EASAC
EASAC is the voice of independent science advice, mobilising Europe’s leading scientists to guide EU policy for the benefit of society. It brings together the National Academies of Science of the EU Member States, Norway, Switzerland and UK and the Academia Europaea.
Euro-CASE
The European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering gathers 23 European Academies with a special focus on innovation, energy and bioeconomy policy and has unique access to additional expertise from the business sector.
FEAM
The Federation of European Academies of Medicine brings together 22 National Academies of Medicine and medical sections of National Academies of Sciences.
YASAS
YASAS, the Young Academies Science Advice Structure, is an independent formal network of 22 young academies across Europe. It seeks to deepen the exchange between European young academies to strengthen the voice of early- and mid-career researchers in European science policy and scientific advice ecosystem.

SAPEA Events with Academies
