10 Common Traits of People Who Fail at Side Hustles—I Experienced Every Single One.
I'll confess right away.
When I first started my side hustle, I did almost all of these. Lol
Looking back, these were all the reasons why I was struggling and wondering, "Why can't I make any money?"
I don't want you to make the same mistakes, so I'm going to be honest and tell you everything today.
I especially want those who are about to start a side hustle or those who are currently struggling to grow to read this.

❌ Failure 1: Believing the words "Easy and quick money"
When I first started my side hustle, I clicked on ads like this many times.
"Make 300,000 yen a month just by tapping on your smartphone!"
Thinking about it now, that's completely out of the question, right? Lol
But at the time, I believed it and wasted both my time and money.
A side hustle is a business that provides value using a system.
While "easy big money" doesn't exist, "making tens of thousands of yen easily by choosing the right projects" really does exist.
If I had understood this difference from the start, I think I could have started earning money much sooner.
❌ Failure 2: Buying "expensive information products" right away
Thinking I had to study, I once bought an information product that cost tens of thousands of yen.
The result... I barely used it at all. Lol
Basic knowledge is sufficient from free sources or books that cost a few hundred yen.
First, try earning even just 1 yen on your own. That experience is worth more than any study material.
It's never too late to pay for things once you've started earning money.
❌ Failure #3: Trying to do it all alone in isolation
At first, I didn't tell anyone, just kept researching, trying, and failing all by myself.
But when you're alone, no one will tell you if you're heading in the wrong direction.
Just being near people who have the right information saves you from taking detours.
It is definitely faster to put yourself in the right environment for a side hustle than to do it in isolation.
❌ Failure #4: Cutting into living expenses to start investing suddenly
Driven by the impatience to 'increase money quickly,' I once dipped into my savings to try FX trading.
You can guess the result without me saying it. lol
I should have started by 'reducing expenses' and 'earning with zero capital' first.
Secure your defense (savings) before you go on the offensive (investing). This order is important.
❌ Failure #5: Over-preparing and becoming unable to act
'I'll start after I study more,' 'I'll move once I'm fully prepared.'
This mindset wastes so much time. lol
The fastest way to learn a side hustle is by doing it as you go.
Even if it's only 60% perfect, just take action first.
If you wait for perfection, you will never start.
❌ Failure #6: Switching methods immediately when things didn't go well
If blogging didn't work, try YouTube; if YouTube didn't work, try reselling...
There was a time when I kept changing methods one after another just because I didn't see results right away.
But then I realized.
The fact that "people who keep switching things up will never make money at anything."
Keep at one thing until you see small results. Just doing this puts you ahead of most people.
❌ Failure 7: Kept choosing only hourly wage jobs
At first, I only did side hustles where I "sold my time," like a part-time job.
But this, you only earn for the hours you work, so you eventually run out of energy.
The ideal is to create a "system where you get paid continuously after doing the work once."
Ever since I started focusing on recurring revenue projects, the stability of my side income has changed completely.
❌ Failure 8: Completely ignored tax and legal knowledge
I thought, "I'll think about it after I start making money," and then I panicked during tax filing season. lol
There are many troubles you can prevent just by having knowledge.
How to distinguish between safe projects and gray-area ones. The basics of tax returns. How to handle resident taxes.
Just knowing these things significantly lowers the risks of a side hustle.
❌ Failure 9: Underestimated saving and only thought about earning
Even if you earn 30,000 yen a month, if you waste 30,000 yen a month, the money you have left is zero.
Earning money and reducing outgoing expenses are equally important.
Just switching your power company can save you tens of thousands of yen a year.
Attack while you defend. When you can do both, the way your money grows is completely different.
❌ Failure 10: Took the "first 1 yen" lightly
This was my biggest failure.
Most people who give up on side hustlesget stuck at the step of "earning the first 1 yen."
Once you break through this, all that's left is to scale up.
However, many people give up before they can overcome this first hurdle.
That is exactly why I have carefully selected and introduced projects where you can make your first dollar even with zero skills.

The 10 failures, when summarized, were all issues with "how to take the first step."
To organize them again,
✅ Don't be fooled by sweet talk
✅ Don't spend money right away
✅ Don't try to handle it all alone
✅ Act without waiting for perfection
✅ Choose the right projects
Just by following these five rules, you can prevent 90% of failures.
I am revealing the "low-risk projects" that I have carefully selected.
I have compiled projects that require zero skills, just a smartphone, and can be completed in a single session.
These are only the ones I have personally tested and confirmed to be safe.

In closing,
Failure is a feeling that only those who have experienced it can understand.
But there is no need to repeat the same mistakes.
I would be happy if the 10 failures I experienced could at least be useful to someone else.
