The Double Punch of Heat and Mental Fatigue: A Scent Prescription for Humidity
When I stepped out onto the balcony in the evening,
the humid air felt heavy and thick,
and I couldn't help but let out a small sigh.
Things have been hectic since this morning,
and before I knew it, both my body and mind felt parched.
Rather than the plans or tasks themselves,
it was more of a "mental fatigue,"
I thought, looking to the side.
My little one was on the sofa, too,
stretched out lazily,
and our eyes met for a moment.
I think my little one,
must have been feeling the heaviness of the air as well...
Today, I decided that after this,
I wouldn't force myself to do anything.
I quietly dimmed the lights in the room,
and let the soft scent of bergamot drift through the air.
This time,
I've put together some ways to spend time before bed to overcome that "double punch of heat and mental fatigue" with my little one.
If you'd like,
please take a look.

🌸 Calming a heart tired from heat and mental fatigue
The double punch of physical exhaustion from the heat
and mental fatigue
affects the body and mind more deeply than you might think.
Mental fatigue makes you wonder, "What am I even tired from?"
Sometimes it's something that has built up over time,
and other times there are days when you just feel,
"I'm just worn out today" for no reason at all.
At times like that, I rely on scent
to switch off my mind and body.
Aroma is like a small ripple of scent.
Just by gently spreading through the room,
it seems to help the parasympathetic nervous system take over,
and my breathing starts to deepen.
🐶 Enjoying time with your dog: A little moment of scent
For your dog,
and for HSP dog owners too,
aromatherapy can be a helpful way
to care for your heart and body.
When you want to focus on relaxing,
I'd like to introduce some "gentle essential oils perfect for rest."
These are some of my personal favorites.😊
🍋
Bergamot (FCF)
A refreshing citrus scent with a gentle floral note.
It calms the mind,
and also offers benefits like better sleep and deodorizing.
It's a great supporter for activating the parasympathetic nervous system.

⚠️Caution
Bergamot contains a component called
"bergapten," which is a type of phototoxin.
When enjoying it with your dog,
please choose an essential oil that is labeled[BF]or[FCF]indicating that it is free of bergapten.
The reason some contain it
and others do not
is due to the difference in the extraction method of the essential oil.

you should never apply essential oils directly to a dog,
but I hope you can keep in the back of your mind that "such components exist."
🌳Frankincense
A scent that brings a sense of calm, like being in a forest.
It eases irritation, anxiety, and stress.
It helps your breathing become calm and deep,
and enhances mental stability and concentration.
🍃Sandalwood
A scent that feels faintly sweet with a quiet strength.
It eases tension originating from the nervous system,
and balances a mind that is easily swayed.
If the scent is too strong, it can cause stress, so always try a small amount slowly.

Put one drop on an aroma stone,
or let it scent the air just a little near the bedroom door.
In a mug not used for food or drink, pour in some hot water,
and add one drop of essential oil;
you can enjoy it like a simple diffuser.
・Applying directly to skin or fur・Heating it
are basically not allowed.
A "faint" scent that leaves you feeling
like you want to add just one more drop
is just the right amount.
I have also written about how to check your dog's scent preferences
here,
so if you are interested,
please do stop by.
☕ Time to settle down before bed
With the rainy weather,
and temperatures that don't drop even at night.
On days when my little one's walk was short,
the relaxing time before bed
becomes especially important.
After spending some time
playing at home with my little one,
if I don't have the energy to prepare essential oils,
herb water is also recommended.
When you give your pillow or bed linens
a quick spray,
the gentle scent
makes the air feel soft instantly.
My little one
also starts to get into a relaxed mode.
I mix my homemade ginger syrup with sparkling water,
and write down one "good thing" from today
in my planner.
Both the heat and the mental fatigue,
we let them pass by quietly together.
I feel like that kind of time
is what helps cultivate a heart that doesn't get summer fatigue,
without me even realizing it.
☘️ Summary
Whether it's the heat or social interactions,
take it at your own pace, without pushing yourself.
Why not start with
"relaxing home time to settle down"?
On days when you're tired,
it's enough if you can do just one thing to cherish yourself and your dog.
It can be something very small.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
This summer,
I would be happy if one more thing was born in your home with your dog:
a moment to take a deep breath along with a scent
.

Thank you for reading until the end.
