Soothing Paw Pads and Hearts🐾 Herb Time to Heal Late Summer Heat
Hot air flows in through the window,
during this late summer season when the body feels sluggish.
As the sun sets, little by little,
the sounds of autumn insects have begun to be heard.
My pet's sleeping posture
is still spread out flat on the floor.
Sometimes,
it even looks like they are sighing.
In the air-conditioned room,
saying, "You worked hard this summer too,"
as I gently stroke my pet's feet,
the paw pads are warmly soft.
Even though I shifted our walk times
and spent time in the air conditioning,
I felt a little bitter thinking that
seasonal fatigue still lingers.
At the end of a harsh summer.
With small efforts you can make in your daily life,
why not spend some maintenance time
with your beloved dog?
This time,
it's a story about gentle care
using a herb bath (foot bath) and a herb pillow.
For both the dog and the dog owner.
It is a proposal for a seasonal reset time
that is comfortable for both.

🛁 Herb bath that soothes both paw pads and hearts✨ Perfect for late summer
🌿Materials
• Water
Appropriate amount based on your dog's weight
• Mesh bag
(Paper packs for tea or dashi, etc.)
• Dried herbs: Chamomile
Organic herbs are
even safer🌿
🌿How to make a herb bath
-
Once you boil the water in a pot, turn off the heat, add the chamomile (dried herbs) placed in a mesh bag (such as a paper pack for tea or dashi), and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
-
Prepare lukewarm water in a washbasin or baby bath (a shallow bucket is also fine).
Prepare an amount where the dog's heels are submerged, with a temperature of approximately 32–35°C.
-
Add about 1 cup of "1." to "2." and adjust the temperature.
-
Gently dip the tips of your dog's front paws.
Respect your dog's pace, speak to them gently, and let them soak for about 5 minutes.
After wiping the front paws,
do the same for the hind legs,
giving them a paw bath.
If they dislike putting their paws in the herb bath, simply soaking a towel in the herb bath and wiping them down is also fine.
🌿
Benefits of a herb bath
Measures against dirt and bacteria on paw pads
Promotes blood flow and relieves swelling and fatigue
Helps balance the autonomic nervous system
Dog owners can also enjoy cooling down with a foot bath together.

For my pet, the first herbal bath was a trial to get used to the scent of chamomile.
Do they like the scent?!
Do they seem stressed?!
I watched them closely.
At first, they would touch the front paws a little and then pull them back.
They looked hesitant, but when I spoke to them, they felt safe, their expression softened, and they relaxed completely.
After my pet was finished,
I prepared my own herb foot bath.
While my pet dozed off on my lap, they watched over my foot bath?
They sweat quite a bit during our daily walks, but sometimes I notice swelling in the evenings.
On days when we take a relaxing time with a herb foot bath, we can fall into a deeper sleep than usual.
🪷 Handmade herb pillow that gently supports sleep💗
Materials
• Mesh bag
(Paper packs for tea or dashi, etc.)
• Small cloth bag
(Sewing a gauze handkerchief into a bag shape is also fine)
• Dried herbs:
Lavender, chamomile, lemon balm
etc., blended to your preference
Organic herbs are
even safer
🌿How to make a herb pillow
1. Put the herbs packed in a mesh bag (such as a paper pack for tea or dashi) into a cloth bag, and sew it shut or tie the opening with a ribbon.
2. Just place it near your dog's bed or crate.
🌿Points
To ensure the scent isn't too strong, it's safe to wrap the small bag in an extra layer of cloth.
Make sure to check that your dog cannot reach the herb bag directly, so they don't tear it open and ingest the herbs.
Placing it by your pillow or hanging it on the wall like a potpourri to share the scent together is also a great idea.
🌱 Small moments of care bring 🌻 comforting times of coexistence
Both dogs and humans
can feel the lingering fatigue of summer.
A foot bath while wiping their paws, or
a herb pillow gently placed before sleep.
Such small moments
create a "moment of relief"
at the end of the day.
It doesn't have to be perfect care.
Because they are our partners
with whom we enjoy the seasons and share our daily lives.
I want to cherish the times
when we can smile at each other and say, "This feels nice."
