Self-Introduction No. 2: Nukkopan and Another Story

Hello.
Ao Yukihere.

I wrote a self-introduction when I first started note.

This time, I would like to introduce myself once again, as I have changed little by little since then.

I lovecute things, cats, bread, sweets, and thinking up stories🐱🍞📖

Sometimes, when I think of something in my daily life,

"This would be interesting as a story,"

and imagine it, the characters start moving in my head.

It was from such small daydreams that the current **"Nukkopan"** was born.

Back then, I never imagined that I would be drawing 4-panel comics and creating so many "Nukkopan" characters🐱🍞

And now, there is one more thing.

I am also challenging myself to "write fairy tales" once again.

This time, please let me re-introduce myself as I am now.

🐱🍞 It all started with "Nukkopan"

I love cats, cute things, and thinking up stories.

Born from that was,

Is it a cat?
Is it bread?

Its name was **"Nukkopan"**.

At first, there was only one Nukkopan.

However, as I was drawing,

"What kind of personality does this one have?"

"If it's a cat, maybe it would do this"

"Since it's bread, it would be interesting if something like this happened."

……And so, my imagination just kept running wild🤣

Before I knew it, the friends increased, personalities were born, and even the settings kept expanding……

From a single Nukkopan, a whole world began to take shape.

Currently, I am delivering that world to you in the form of 4-panel comics🍞🐾

📖 Actually, I was writing children's stories before Nukkopan

However, Nukkopan was not the first time I started writing stories.

Previously, I wrote children's stories under the name **"Aotsuki Rui"**.

One of those works,

"Rental Mother and the Mysterious Hamburger"

passed the first round of judging at the 2nd Eiko Kadono Children's Literature Award.

At that time, I was active under the name "Aotsuki Rui," so it is a different name from my current one, "Yuki Ao."

But this work and the experience of passing the first round of judging are still precious to me today.

"It's okay to put the stories I've thought of into a form that others can read."

That became one of the triggers that made me feel that way.

Looking back now, I think that after some time had passed since then, the feeling of "I want to write stories again" became stronger.

🌸 And now, back to children's stories

Currently, I am developing concepts for a new children's story for the 3rd Eiko Kadono Children's Literature Award.

This is not a completed work yet.

Thinking about the characters that appear,

"Would this development be interesting?"

"If it were this character, they would probably say something like this."

Thinking about things like that.

I am in the process of growing the story little by little in my head.

Actually, I quite like the time spent daydreaming about stories that haven't taken shape yet like this.😊🐈

🐾And will "Nukkopan" become a children's story too?

Recently, I have also been thinking about a children's story featuring Nukkopan as the protagonist.

Events that would end in just a few panels in a 4-panel comic can become a longer journey in a children's story.

It might also be possible to depict the world where the Nukkopans live more deeply.

Of course,

"Will it really become a children's story?"

If I were asked that...

I don't know yet either🤣🍞

But that is exactly why it is interesting.

What kind of story will the world that started from a single Nukkopan become next?

I am looking forward to it myself.

📖From 4-panel comic to children's story

Looking back on it like this,

I, who used to write fairy tales as Rui Aotsuki.

I, who created Nukkopan and started drawing 4-panel comics.

↓

And now, I, who am trying to write fairy tales again as Ao Yuki.

I feel like things that once seemed separate are gradually connecting into one.

Nukkopan wasn't originally planned to have so many friends either.

Even with fairy tales, I don't know what kind of story it will become until I start writing it.

"I wonder what kind of story will be born next?"

I want to continue creating stories while cherishing that sense of excitement.
