The story of how my little people lived in the corner of someone's memory
The Candle Night held the other day.
Amidst the flickering lights, there was a man who was gazing intently at my work.
His expression was so warm that I quietly spoke to him.
I said, "This has actually been made into a picture book." At that, the man's expression softened instantly, and he said this to me: "You had this out last year, didn't you? Actually, only the dolls from this piece have remained in my memory..." The moment I heard those words, something inside me trembled with emotion. Even during the year that had passed, when we hadn't met, the little people I created had been alive and living somewhere in the corner of his memory.
And now he has come here again to see our new work.
There were also people who traveled from far away, knowing we would be exhibiting, just to come and see us.
Another person was captivated by the work of someone who had taken photos of these little people last year, and was moved to finally see the real thing.
They asked, "Are all these dolls handmade?!"
As a creator, there is no moment more rewarding than this. I want to continue giving shape to a "worldview" that can become a place of comfort for someone, and that gently nestles up to your pure heart.
It was a night where I renewed that determination amidst the light of the swaying candles.
