A lucky ticket where the term 'Beiju' (88th birthday celebration) perfectly aligns with the 88th anniversary of the stations' opening.
The front features an auspicious illustration of cranes, pine trees, and the rising sun, with a three-dimensional finish where the elderly couple is slightly embossed.
The back of the envelope contains a history of both stations from the Meiji era to 1985 (Showa 60), capturing the bustle of the town along with local commercial advertisements from that time 🎫
[Commentary and Details] 🧐
○ An 88th-anniversary commemorative ticket named after the 'Beiju' (88th birthday) celebration. The naming highlights its auspicious nature.
○ The cover art is a celebratory illustration featuring cranes, turtles, pine trees, and the rising sun. It is an auspicious image of an elderly couple, with a subtle 3D finish to evoke the atmosphere of an 88th birthday celebration.
○ The back of the envelope features the 'History of Kashiwazaki Station and Yoneyama Station.' It covers about 90 years of local railway history, from the opening of the Hokuetsu Railway in 1897 (Meiji 30) to the electrification of the Echigo Line in 1984 (Showa 59).
○ Yoneyama Station was originally 'Hachizaki Station.' It was renamed to its current name in March 1961 (Showa 36). It currently remains an unmanned station on the JR East Shin-etsu Main Line.
○ Kashiwazaki Station is still a shared station for JR East and JR Freight. The limited express 'Shirayuki' stops there, marking a significant change from the time of issuance.
○ The inner envelope features local advertisements such as the Japan Ryokan Association Kashiwazaki Branch, Kashiwazaki Seaside Hotel, and NALUX. The only business name currently identifiable is 'Naniwaya Yunagitei' (Kujiranami), and it is highly likely that many others, such as the Seaside Hotel, NALUX, and Ryokan Asahiya, have since closed.
Another record that offers a glimpse into the bustle of Kashiwazaki in 1985.

○ Two types of stamps (Yoneyama Station and Kashiwazaki Station) are printed. The phrase 'Clouds emerge from the mountains, a mountain station on the third floor' is very characteristic of Yoneyama.

📖 A 'Cross-section of History' told by paper
The 'Beiju' celebrated by this commemorative ticket marks 88 years since the opening of the two stations. On the back of the envelope are the names of shops that can no longer be found today. It is a piece that serves as both a record of the railway and a record of the town. 😌
