[JR/JNR] March 2025 JR West 683 Series Limited Express Mahoroba An-nei Formation Kobe Station Exhibition

The Limited Express "Mahoroba" connects Osaka/Shin-Osaka and Nara via the Osaka Higashi Line.

It was a seasonal limited express train operated mainly on weekends and holidays during peak travel seasons, but with the timetable revision implemented on March 15, 2025, it became a regular train operating on weekends and holidays.

In conjunction with this transition to a regular train service, JR West has introduced refurbished rolling stock.
Prior to its debut on April 5, an exhibition was held at Kobe Station on March 22.

The venue is Platform 1, but first, let's take a look at the formation from Platform 2.

The An-nei formation.
It is said to express a "sense of paradise sunlight" using Suo (deep red) and gold colors.

The symbol marks on the front and sides are based on arabesque patterns.

It features designs inspired by Nara, including the Hosoge (imaginary flower) pattern, deer, goldfish, and Yamato vegetables.

This refurbished formation.
The base vehicle was the 683 series 2000 series N01 formation, and after the modification, 4000 was added to the original number, renumbering it to the 6000 series.

After checking the entire formation from Platform 2, it is finally time to head to Platform 1.

Next to the restroom, a gallery space has been set up where you can experience Nara's culture.

Until September 28th, a full-scale replica of the right hand of the National Treasure 'Seirin-ji Temple Eleven-faced Kannon Statue' is on display.

A luggage storage area has been set up right by the entrance.
Luggage storage areas are provided in every car.

Car No. 2 is equipped with three wheelchair spaces.
