I Tried Creating a Prospectus for Yuri Yano

It has been 4 months since I became a premium listener of Hitoshi Kinoshita's Voicy, "Hitoshi Kinoshita's 'I'll Tell You Straight Today!'." I am greatly inspired by the concept of "My Own Company," which encourages us to view ourselves as a single company and manage it accordingly.

Currently, the "Recommendations for Managing My Own Company" series is being broadcast on weekends exclusively for premium listeners. The first episode, aired on February 10th, was titled "Let's Create a Prospectus and Articles of Incorporation." Although some time has passed, I decided to give it a try myself.

My Career and Background

After graduating from a university in my hometown of Miyazaki, I started my career at the only publishing company in the area, working on town magazine editing and special issue editing. I learned so much at that workplace and had a lot of fun with many colleagues of my generation, but I felt it would be difficult to continue after marriage, so I resigned after two and a half years and chose the path of a freelancer.

The reason I aimed to become a freelance writer, which was still rare in Miyazaki at the time, was that I learned about the existence of freelancers active in other prefectures through my work on special issues. Also, having a senior colleague who had become a freelancer from the same company allowed me to take the plunge without fear.

I was able to manage marriage, childbirth, and child-rearing because of the support from my parents and relatives in my hometown. Of course, I am also grateful for my husband's understanding. Although I worked in a completely different sales job for a while, I eventually chose to return to freelancing. Now that my children are adults, I want to use the editing and writing skills I have cultivated to take on the challenge of creating new services.

In an age where information is overflowing and everyone can disseminate information, quality and scarcity are what matter. I feel there is potential in the future not only for writing commissions but also for supporting business owners by leveraging my interviewing and listening skills.

However, what is necessary at that time is the presence of colleagues. It is precisely because I have worked alone that I have felt the difference in performance when working with others. I want to connect with colleagues who share my thoughts and create a new service structure while determining in which fields our skills and scarcity hold value.

Purpose of Establishing the Company

1. First, to earn the money necessary for myself and my family to live. 2. To use the experience I have accumulated in "listening," "writing," and "editing" to deliver useful information to society. Also, to support people and companies that need to disseminate information. 3. To stand by young people from my position as someone with 25 years of freelance experience who has also experienced marriage and child-rearing, and to provide a place where they can work freely according to changes in their life stages.

Management Policy

1. Focus on interviews that value people's thoughts and on choosing words that convey meaning. 2. Accept commissions only after judging based on my own standards whether I can empathize with the client's thoughts and whether I can support their activities or business. 3. Support actions that have a good impact on the world. 4. Do not try to make money unfairly, and do not sell myself short. Respond to the compensation received with the contract content plus alpha. 5. Collaborate with partners in work who can maximize my true self.

After Creating It

I took the liberty of using the note by Meiko, a listener of Hitoshi Kinoshita's Voicy, as a reference and created this on the spur of the moment. I thought it would take about an hour, but it ended up taking an hour and a half.

Actually, this week, I have a meeting and an overnight camp planned with someone I want to work with in the future. It was the perfect timing to create a prospectus as the first step of "My Own Company," even if it was unplanned. It is definitely at a level that will need brushing up from here on out, but I am glad I was able to output it for now.

The "Recommendations for Managing My Own Company" series has already reached its 6th episode today. I am finally at the stage where I have outputted the first one, but I will work on it little by little to catch up with the broadcasts without rushing.

This kind of time is also an investment in myself. It was a Sunday morning where I once again felt the usefulness of increasing the time spent on output rather than just being satisfied with listening.
