When it becomes difficult to go out, how to handle medical visits becomes an issue. This includes dental visits.
It is imagined that careful oral care at the washbasin is not being performed.
Even for those who are performing oral care, regular care by a dentist is desirable.
When I judged that home dental care was necessary, I think I arranged it as needed without much deep thought. I have a list of home dental services I have used so far, and pamphlets that have arrived at the office for solicitation and advertising. You can also search online.
Emergency: Peeling of the oral mucosa, abnormalities in the oral cavity
In an emergency, choose a dentist who can respond on the same day.
A 100-year-old person who suddenly could not eat. The daughter who provides care is also a person requiring long-term care.
I was able to arrange it on the same day, and when they were examined, it was peeling of the roof of the mouth from hot miso soup.
They were prescribed ointment, and it improved and healed in one day.
Regular professional maintenance of the oral cavity
There are many users for this purpose.
Swallowing examination
Arrange a home dental service that performs swallowing examinations (with that as the goal, or with the goal of being able to do so in the future).
Swallowing Endoscopy: Using a flexible endoscope inserted through the nostril, it is possible to observe the movement of various parts related to swallowing and the flow of swallowed food (Photo 5). This is an examination that can be performed during home visits if an endoscope is carried, but it has drawbacks such as discomfort caused by the inserted endoscope and the inability to observe the moment of swallowing because the pharyngeal mucosa is close to the tip of the endoscope.
Denture adjustment, making dentures
There are many people whose dentures no longer fit. Families hope that they can eat properly using their dentures.
I felt that both adjusting dentures and making new ones were not going well.
Even if there is discomfort, it is often the case that they cannot be adjusted while being used.
It is important to have good dentures made
It is best to have a lifelong set of dentures made at a good time at a dental clinic you are used to visiting, while you still have the ability to visit the clinic and the ability to cooperate with adjustments. There are many people who are living well with good dentures.

In the midst of this, last year (I believe), a letter arrived from the Adachi Ward Dental Association.

When requesting home dental care, please first ask the patient or their family if they have a regular dentist.
And if there is a regular dentist, we would like you to confirm whether that dental clinic provides home care before making a request.
If the regular dentist provides home care, please request it there, and if there is no regular dentist, or if they do not provide home care even if there is one, please contact the Adachi Ward Dental Association and we will introduce you to a home dental care provider.
The person who knows the patient's oral information best is their regular dentist. Also, if the regular dentist and the home dental care provider are members of the dental association, we believe that the exchange of the patient's oral information and communication will be closer, and better dental treatment can be provided.
