Time's thoughts on May 26th. What is necessary to do what you want to do? (Bamboo Basket Edition)

Good morning ☀ It's Time 😊 I previously wrote a blog post about how practicing the piano is a battle with oneself.

There is a glimmer of hope ✨ I have finally started playing songs that actually sound like songs 😆 Since the day before yesterday, I've been playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and since yesterday, Alps Ichiman-jaku. Time is suddenly feeling very motivated. While frying gyoza, while waiting for CANDY TUNE's turn, I'm playing more and more in my spare time 💓 It's so much fun. It's important to enjoy things 🤔 Today's question is

Who is someone near you that you think is "kind of nice"?

A male clerk at a convenience store near my house. I don't know his age, but his voice is wonderful 🤩 It's a low voice, but it has a unique quality that also adds a sweetness to it. I'm not interested in him personally, but every time I hear his voice, I think he's kind of nice.

Last week, I made a decision.

Time, being curious and having the drive to act, has done everything I wanted to do so far, but since that disperses my energy, I tried narrowing down what I want to do.

However, something important is missing from this blog. If I put it in a diagram, it looks like this.

Writing is at the top, and the other three are like options. Until a little while ago, there weren't just three, there were many more, but in the end, what I want to do most is write. I hadn't properly written about that in my blog.

And then I suddenly realized that I can just play the piano, and I can just give shape to the senryu that come to mind, but bamboo basket weaving is the only thing I can't do at all when I'm at home.

Currently, the only way for me to weave bamboo baskets is to go to a workshop. I've been weaving every month since April, but that will end next month.

So, I found myself wondering what I should do during the periods when I don't have bamboo in my hands? In other words, while piano and senryu can be incorporated into my daily life, bamboo basket weaving cannot escape from being an extraordinary activity.

To me, bamboo feels like an uncle I meet occasionally. Sometimes we get excited and stay up all night working on it, but usually, I don't even notice its existence.

But, isn't it important to take the time to think about what you should do to devote your heart to such things?

During the April workshop, I cried because I couldn't do it at all, but I realized then that when facing bamboo, you need to be in perfect condition. If your mental state and physical condition aren't in order, your hands won't move. When you can't do it, it's because something is tired, so it's better to just rest.

The time I have to pick up bamboo is limited. To concentrate on weaving, I will steadily build something up.

Isn't that what piano, senryu, and writing are?

Ah! I see! In that case, the diagram changes.

Everything is connected. To be more specific, work will probably come into it, and how I spend my leisure time will also be involved.

Perhaps, Sato Time's way of life shows up in the bamboo?

I don't usually think about how I live, but when I think about it carefully, if even one thing that has happened to me so far had been missing, I would not have encountered bamboo basket weaving.

Getting married, having a child, getting divorced, breaking a bone, getting dumped by a boyfriend. I think there are infinite details if I go into them, but if even one of these were missing, I wouldn't be holding this root-bent bamboo right now.

Thinking about it that way, it makes me feel like there's more I can do. Studying, watching videos, or visualizing. Saying "I can't do it because I don't have the materials" is the same as saying "I can't do it because I don't have the motivation."
Like the saying "If you have no bread, eat cake," I'll shift my perspective. I'll try spending my time on that.

Quruli - Bara no Hana

The reason I'm going out of my way to write this is because I wanted to confirm my own feelings. Writing, playing the piano, and writing senryu can all be done out of habit, but bamboo basket weaving is different.

For the sake of those precious moments when I can truly face it, I write and I play the piano. On this Monday morning, I feel like I want to keep steadily building up the things I can continue, all for the sake of that one unique escape from the everyday.☀️
