June 27th Time: A little experiment to see if Audible and physical books can be experienced at the same timeð§ª
Good morningâïž It's Timeð Yesterday, I found a Self-Defense Force tank at a pedestrian paradise, and without even asking my eldest son who was with með , I went to see itâš My eldest son squinted his eyes and said, 'That's great,' at me as I was squealing with excitementð If it had been my second son, it wouldn't have been like thisð Thank you for coming along with me, eldest sonð¥°
Lately, I've become a big fan of Audibleð
It started at a real-life book clubð One of the participants said,
'Audible is funð Physical books are great, but listening with your ears uses a different part of your brain, which feels freshð€©'
I used to listen to audiobooks when I was doing rakugo, but I never thought to listen to novels that way, haha. I canceled my subscription once the free trial ended.
A different part of the brainð§ I'm super curious about thatð³
I immediately downloaded Amazon's Audible. This is the first book I chose.
I didn't really check the content. Mizuki Tsujimura is an author I like, so I started listening with the feeling that it would be easier to get into than someone I'd never read at allð§
This is incredibly interestingð€©
I live in the countryside, so I'm always traveling by carð It's a 50-minute round trip to work by car. I also go to hydrogen inhalation therapy three times a week, which is a 40-minute round trip by car. Depending on the day, there are times when I spend more time in the car than at home.
I tried listening to Audible during that time.
At first, I was quite scared, wondering what would happen if I got distracted by the content and neglected my driving, but it seems my brain is capable of separating the ability to drive properly from the ability to listen to Audibleð³ I think it's similar to listening to the radioð€
I've also started listening at home while doing chores or taking care of my succulentsð Being able to listen to a book while hanging out the laundryâš What a wonderful thing that isð
But, there are failures tooð Yesterday, when I was making lunch, I was playing Audible directly from my smartphone, and a sexual scene came onð³ If I had been alone, I don't think it would have been a problem, but
My second-year junior high school son was in the living room, lounging around and playing gamesð³
I was listening at a pretty high volume, so it definitely reached my son's ears (;) I could have stopped it, but stopping it suddenly would have been unnatural, and above all, I was curious about what would happen nextð€£ As I kept it playing,
'That's quite a story, huhð It's a criminal festival, isn't itð'
Indeed, criminals were appearingð³ That means my son was listening to the content quite carefully.
I think it might be better to think about what I play in front of my familyð
I'll prepare an Audible specifically for when I'm in front of my family. That's what I thought.
I was listening this morning, and a sudden question popped into my head.
Is it possible to experience Audible and a real book at the same time?ð€
When I think of something, I want to do it right awayð So, here is the book I preparedâš
It's a book I borrowed from the manager of the book cafe I went to last weekð I hadn't read it yet, so I decided to try this oneð
I set the kitchen timer for 10 minutes and startedâš
The result... it's impossible for með€£
I was too curious about both, so I ended up just listening passively and skimming through the pagesð It didn't feel like I could really focus on the contentðŠ
Maybe it would be different with manga?ð€
Tokyo Revengers might be good. I'll try that next timeð€©
Right now, I spend over an hour a day on Audible. But since I do it while driving or doing housework, it's not much of a burden. I've read Kindle books before, but Audible seems to fit my lifestyle better than Kindle doesð
I'm so curious about what happens next!ð€
Even on days when I feel depressed about going to work, knowing I can listen to Audible makes me feel a bit betterð
It's amazing that we live in a world where we can read books not just through physical copies, but also through Kindle and Audibleð¥°
I think I'm quite lucky to be living in this era. Happy Mondayð
[Kenji Darvish] This is the song he gifted to Sho Kiryuin at the live concert.
The feeling of listening to Audible is very similar to this songð³
When you just listen to the music, it's so moving, but then you look at the lyrics and are stunnedð€£
I feel like I want to read the Mizuki Tsujimura book I'm listening to right now in text form too, but maybe it's okay to just leave it a bit hazyð¶âð«ïžâa luxurious problem to haveð
