I have published the 'Intermediate Tarot Reading Practical Guide'! - A book to understand the meanings of all 78 cards and how to read spreads -
Introduction: To all intermediate learners tired of memorizing meanings
Hello.
I have recently published a new book for intermediate tarot learners.
The title is
'Intermediate Tarot Reading Practical Guide'
and the subtitle is
'A book to understand the meanings of all 78 cards and how to read spreads'.
This book is for those who are currently hitting the 'intermediate wall,' such as those who think, 'I've mostly memorized the card meanings, but I freeze up during actual readings,' or 'I always get lost on how to proceed with reading a spread.'
In this article, I will introduce the thoughts I put into this book and what kind of content it contains.
[1] Graduate from memorizing meanings and read cards as a story
The major theme of this book is 'from knowledge to understanding'.
When you start learning tarot, you first focus on memorizing the meaning of each card one by one.
'Five of Cups is loss,' 'Three of Swords is sadness'—many of you have probably memorized keywords like that, haven't you?
However, in real-life readings,
'where and how this card appeared'
and
'how it makes sense in light of the querent's situation'—in other words, interpreting context and dialogue—becomes very important.
In this book, in addition to the meanings of each card in [Upright] and [Reversed] positions, I have also supplemented it with:
・The energy that the card represents
・Points that are easy to misinterpret
・Scenes that are easy to feel intuitively
In particular, the chart for interpreting reversed positions from four perspectives (excess, deficiency, stagnation, and release) is recommended for those who feel anxious every time a reversed card appears.
This is a guide to help you perceive cards not as symbols to be memorized, but as
'a moving story'.
[2] To avoid stumbling over how to read spreads
What intermediate learners often stumble over is spread interpretation.
I often hear people say, 'I tried using the Celtic Cross, but it was hard to read all 10 cards, so I gave up.'
In this book, I mainly explain the following three classic spreads.
Celtic Cross
Horseshoe
Chakra Spread
For each one, I carefully introduce one by one:
・What themes it is suitable for
・What each position represents
・'How to proceed with reading' when you lay them out
Especially for the Celtic Cross, I present a way of looking at it in three blocks: 'central block,' 'time axis from past to future,' and 'vertical inner/outer structure,' so it is also recommended for those who feel that 'the whole thing looks messy'.
Furthermore, as an appendix at the end of the book, a quick reference guide by spread is also included.
You can immediately check the meaning of each position even while performing a reading, so you can use it in practice with confidence.
[3] Proposing a way of reading that connects intuition and knowledge
The appeal of Tarot is not just "fortune-telling," but the ability to have
an intuitive dialogue that connects to the depths of the heart.
In this book, we address
"How should I put into words what I feel when looking at the imagery?"
"How should I interpret it when my intuition differs from the traditional meaning?"
and other concerns unique to intermediate readers.
For example, the 'Six of Cups' is a card of "nostalgia" or "memories," but
some people might feel sadness or regret in it.
In that case, rather than saying "it's wrong because it's different from the card's meaning,"
it is important to consider how to convey it as an "interpreter of emotions" based on the querent's background.
Respect the stories that emerge from the cards and the emotions that well up.
This book also proposes ways of thinking and exercises to achieve that.
[4] A structure with "appendices" and "re-readability" useful for actual readings
At the end of this book, the following three appendices are included.
List of meanings for all 78 Tarot cards [Upright/Reversed]
Quick reference guide for the Celtic Cross spread positions
Reversed reading 4-classification chart (Excess/Deficiency/Stagnation/Release)
These are designed so that you can quickly look back at them while performing a reading.
If you keep just this page open alongside your paper notebook, it will serve as a navigator when you are unsure about an interpretation.
Also, since the themes are organized by chapter,
"I want to practice interpreting reversed cards today"
or "I want to review spreads"
is a structure that allows you to re-read specific parts when needed.
"A book you can keep at your reading station" is what I aimed for.
Conclusion: A book that turns your "want to read" into "I can read"
The 'Tarot Reading Intermediate Practical Guide' is a book for moving from
"fortune-telling where you just look at the cards"
to "a dialogue where you weave a story with the querent."
・I know the meanings, but I get lost during actual readings
・Interpretations of reversed cards or spreads are vague
・I want to read in a way that connects more with the heart of the Tarot
I would be very happy if those people could read this.
The book is currently on sale at the Kindle Store📖
