My daughter's happy time has increased since we got a crib mobile

A convenient item that really helps me with daily childcare is the Snoopy crib mobile.

The reason I bought a crib mobile was that my daughter started following moving objects with her eyes when she turned one month old. I was sure she would enjoy it, so I searched for various options on Amazon and Rakuten.

Choosing a crib mobile

At first, I was interested in a stylish wooden mobile that would blend in with the interior, but...many wooden mobiles are like mobiles that sway in the wind, and the movement seemed slow.

I thought an electric crib mobile that spins steadily while playing musicwould be more interesting for a baby.

However, many electric crib mobiles use primary colors and look pop-y, so I couldn't find one I liked. In the midst of that, I discovered a cute pastel-colored mobile among the goods available through theTokyo Metropolitan Government's Baby First Project! And it's Snoopy, my favorite!

So, I ordered it right away. It arrived at our house about a week later.

Checkpoints for installation

When installing the Snoopy crib mobile, I didn't check the following points, so it took a bit of effort.

• A screwdriver was required

• Batteries were sold separately

When I thought, 'Time to attach it to the crib!', I realized aPhillips screwdriverwas needed to open the battery compartment cover. I'm sure it's designed so that children can't open it easily to prevent accidental ingestion of batteries.

I pulled a screwdriver out from the back of the shelf and managed to open the cover.

But then, I discovered that the batteries were sold separately! And they were the obscureC-size batteries... I didn't have any C-size batteries in stock, so I had to run to a convenience store to buy some.

If you don't have a screwdriver and C-size batteries at home, it's best to have them ready in advance.

My daughter's favorite points

When you press the switch, the Snoopy characters start spinning along with fun music. My daughter looks up and is overjoyed by the movement she has never seen before.

There are about 10 songs included, so there is plenty of variety. Observing my daughter, it's interesting to see that there are songs she likes and songs she doesn't care for as much.

The one that seems to be her absolute favorite isGrandfather's Clock. When the intro starts playing 'tick-tock, tick-tock...', she stretches out her arms and legs and breaks into a huge smile.

Mom's favorite points

The electric crib mobile is especially reliable when it's time to put her to sleep. When you press the slumber melody button, the song plays slowly. It's enough to make even adults feel sleepy.

Before we had the crib mobile, I would pat her to sleep, but she wouldn't stop crying... it was a real struggle. Now that I keep the mobile spinning, she has started falling asleep on her own.

The music is set to automatically stop after 20 minutes. She starts off fussy, but gradually becomes quiet, and by the time it stops automatically, she is usually asleep. This 20-minute setting is just perfect.

It's not just useful for nap time; it also comes in handy when I'm busy with housework and can't get away.

There was also an unexpected, convenient way to use it. When my daughter wakes up, the vibrations travel and the toys hanging from the mobile sway, so I can notice, "Oh, is she awake?" I can go soothe her before she starts fussing, so I feel like she spends more time in a good mood.

I was worried she might get bored of it quickly, but even after more than a month, there's no sign of that. Even though I turn it on quite frequently, I still haven't had to change the batteries.

It might work for some babies and not others, but fortunately, my daughter loves the crib mobile. Today, in our home, the crib mobile is spinning around and around again.
