The story of how I realized "Mom, look!" means the same thing as "I love you, Mom!"
Every day is full of interruptions. But perhaps those are moments when I can hear "I love you."
When I'm washing the dishes.
My hands are covered in soap, and the water is running.
It's always at times like that when the voice rings out: "Mom! Come here!"
I stop what I'm doing, quickly turn off the water, wipe my dripping hands on a towel, and rush over.
When I get there, my daughter points to her building blocks and says, "Look, look!" She's so proud that she managed to stack one more block on top!
My daughter looking so proud is adorable.
However, when these interruptions to my housework pile up, honestly, it's a bit stressful.
I have so much to do and so much I want to get done. I want some time to myself, and there are times when I just don't want to stop.
When I'm interrupted while I'm focused, I sometimes forget what I was doing, and there are days when I get a little irritable.
But recently, I suddenly realized something.
"Mom, look!"
"Mom, listen!"
"Mom, come here!"
Being called like that,
might just be proof that I am loved.
When she wants to share something, who does she want to tell first?
For my daughter right now, that person is probably me.
The days of being interrupted are certainly tough.
But every time it happens, I feel like she's saying, "I love you, Mom!"
When I think of it that way, my dripping wet hands,
and the days of constantly soaking towels,
start to feel a little more precious.
I'm sure many people will have something interrupted today, too.
Even while thinking, "Oh, not again," if we can just notice the "love" hidden within those moments, our hearts might feel a little lighter.
Thank you for reading this far.
May your day be a wonderful one.
