Deciding What Not to Do in 2026
I feel that
deciding what not to do is more important than deciding what to do.
This is because
things to do will increase even if you leave them alone.
Work, housework, childcare.
Even a "100 things I want to do list"
requires time if you intend to do it all.
If you only increase the things you want to do
without deciding what not to do,
you will run out of both time and energy.
That is why I
clearly decided what I will not do in 2026.
What I want to do in 2026
What I want to do this year is simple.
Take on client work both domestically and internationally
Attempt my second and third Kindle books
To that end,
I have decided what not to do.
What not to do 1: Do not work overtime
In 2025,
I often worked overtime at the request of my workplace.
However, for me, overtime
was a major cause of poor health.
When working hours became long,
my lower back would hurt
the feeling of fatigue would not go away
and that would pile up, leading to me getting sick
was a pattern I easily fell into.
In fact,
as a result of continuing to "push myself a little,"
there were many times when my health suddenly collapsed later on.
Therefore, I consulted with my workplace and
decided not to work overtime in 2026.
With no overtime,
I will make this a year to first prioritize my own physical health.
What not to do #2: Do not ignore abnormalities in my body
My children are still prone to getting sick,
so inevitably, trips to the clinic increase.
Every time that happens, I adjust my schedule,
and before I know it, I'm the one who is completely exhausted.
Until now, I have made choices like:
Enduring minor ailments
Putting myself last
I have made these choices.
As a result, I often suddenly developed high fevers
or ended up bedridden for long periods.
I realized that "enduring" comes back to haunt you later.
I realized that.
So this year,
I will not ignore abnormalities in my body.
Rest if I feel something is wrong
Go to the clinic early
Do not keep pushing myself
I will properly take care of
my body.
Deciding what not to do allows you to focus on what you want to do
To achieve what I want to do,
it was also necessary not to try hard at everything.
Deciding what not to do
is not running away.
It is a choice to focus on what is important.
This year, I will decide what not to do and then
focus on what I want to do.
Thank you for reading this far.
I hope you have a wonderful day.
