Overcoming Back Pain! Trying Out Note Creation via Voice Input
Are there any of you who find it difficult to create notes in front of a computer because of severe back pain?
I have been working as a web writer while dealing with back pain, and there were times when I had to give up writing because of it.
Even now, in my daily life, I sometimes have to interrupt my computer work due to back pain.
At such times, I was recommended to try creating notes using voice input on my smartphone, so I gave it a try.
This time, I will introduce the pros and cons I discovered after trying voice input. This article is aimed at the following people:
- Those who want to create articles quickly
- Those who find it difficult to sit in front of a computer
Pros
1. Faster than typing
As a result of trying voice input for the first time, I was surprised by its speed.
With traditional typing, it took me more than 5 seconds to type 10 characters.
With voice input, I was able to type in half that time.
I am not good at typing, so it seems I can create content faster with voice input.
Does not hurt your back or hands
With voice input, you won't hurt your back or hands.
Since there is no need to sit in front of a computer for a long time, my eyes have also stopped getting tired.
I can create notes even while lying down, which is very easy on the body.
I recommend it to those who want to reduce physical strain.
Cons
1. Unnecessary sounds are also input
On the other hand, when I think about sentences out loud, sounds like "um" or "ah" come out, and sometimes they are input just like that.
When I look back at the text after voice input, there are often unintended words mixed in, so editing is absolutely necessary.
Solution
I didn't want to spend time editing the text after voice input, so I tried using ChatGPT.
When I instructed ChatGPT to
"please fix typos and omissions while keeping the original text as much as possible"
it cut out the unnecessary sounds to some extent.
I would also like to use it for checking typos and omissions before posting in the future.
2. It is difficult to use voice input when there are people around
When there are many people around, such as family, there is too much noise and it does not input correctly.
Moreover, I am self-conscious about being watched, so I cannot use voice input confidently.
It seems best to use voice input in quiet places where there are few people around.
Summary
The pros and cons of voice input are as follows.
Pros
✅ You can type characters faster than typing
✅ Less physical strain
Cons
☑️ Unnecessary audio is included
☑️ Difficult to use voice input when there are people around
I recommend using voice input for those who do not want to spend time typing or who do not want to put physical strain on themselves.
Afterword
Thank you to everyone who has given me likes or followed me so far.
From now on, I would like to continue posting without overdoing it while using voice input.
If you liked this article, or if you are someone who uses voice input, please like or follow me. I will be overjoyed.
