[MacBook Air] Mobile Display
Since purchasing my MacBook Air, I have been procuring various items.
I wrote a little about accessories as well,
but one thing that has been very good is the mobile display.
I participate in the Amazon Associates program.
What is a mobile display?
It is a small, lightweight display specialized for portability.
It is used for purposes such as increasing work efficiency by using it as a second monitor for a laptop to display two screens.
VAIO Vision+® 14
The one I purchased this time is the 14-inch
mobile display from VAIO, the "VAIO Vision+ 14".
Features (Pros/Cons)
1. It is incredibly light
At approximately 325g for a 14-inch external display,
the feel when holding it is different from other manufacturers.
Since I will definitely be carrying it around with my laptop,
having a light body weight is a virtue.
At about 3.9mm at its thinnest point, it does not
take up much space in my bag.

2. Connection via USB-C
It connects with a single USB-C cable,
handling both power and video transmission,
so there is no need to carry extra cables.
Of course, since it is powered by the PC via the power cable,
that is not necessary.
By the way, it supports PD pass-through, so
for PCs with limited USB-C ports like the MacBook Air,
you can supply power without using multiple ports.
3. Comes with a cover (also serves as a stand)
With it being this thin, I worry about damage, but
a dedicated cover is included.
Also, when you assemble the cover,
it becomes a stand, and the fact that it can be used not only as two screens side-by-side
but also as two screens stacked vertically
makes it very easy to use.

4. High price (the only disadvantage)
Because it is wonderfully crafted and a great product,
it is natural that the price is high.
(Personally, I thought it was cheap for this quality,
so that is why I bought it...)
It ends up costing around 54,800 yen including tax.
By the way, an I-O DATA 14-inch mobile display is
around 22,800 yen including tax, so
even with a simple price comparison without looking at specs, you can buy it for less than half the price.
However, this is a matter of perspective,
so it is not something
that anyone is forced into, and I think either choice is correct.
My usage example
It is most effective when used on the go.
・When you need to share documents on your PC with clients or a large group of people
・When you can check documents while having Excel or similar open even when working alone
・When you are doing other work while checking stocks or exchange rates
It is useful to have for things like these.
Using an external monitor at the office or at home
has become common, but
it is very handy at places like hotels on business trips, as shown in the image.

Finally
I personally think it goes well
with the MacBook Air.
If you carry it around a lot and handle multiple tasks, please consider it.
Please take a look at this as well if you like.
