The Perfect Solution for Busy Mornings! A Delicious, Nutrient-Packed Power Boost Smoothie You Can Make in Just 3 Minutes

Hello!
It's YUKA here.
Do you have a proper breakfast?
Back when I was single, I used to skip breakfast at home, head straight to the office, and buy a sweet bun, yogurt, and coffee from the convenience store downstairs. I’d then eat while working—a routine I kept up for over ten years.
And sometimes, that little sweet bun alone had a whopping 500 calories! 😱
Now that I’ve studied nutrition and physiology, I realize how terrifying that lifestyle was. But at the time, I genuinely believed I was "having breakfast" and that it was "better than eating nothing at all"—a complete misconception about proper eating habits.
The truth is, I’ve never been the type who can eat a full meal in the morning. A classic Japanese breakfast—rice, natto, grilled salmon, egg, and seaweed—has always felt way too heavy for me.
But as a full-time working mom, taking the time to prepare a well-balanced breakfast in the morning was simply out of the question. Honestly, knowing my personality, that was never going to happen!
Still, I didn’t want to skip breakfast, and I wanted to make sure my kids had something nutritious to eat.
So, for the past several years—ever since my working mom days—I’ve been making the same breakfast every morning.
That’s the oat smoothie I introduced in my recent article👇 about the incredible benefits of oats!
This smoothie is incredibly easy to make in just 3 minutes, packed with nutrients, and absolutely delicious‼️ My kids even says it tastes better than the smoothies from the shops in town and drinks it every day.

The recipe is super simple. Since it’s a smoothie, all you need to do is put everything in a blender and blend it up! 😂
I’m sure you can’t tell from just the picture what’s in it, so here’s the recipe for my Super Power Charge Smoothie, the YUKA way:
1️⃣ Banana
Bananas contain both "simple sugars" that are easily digested and quickly converted into energy, and "complex carbohydrates" that provide sustained energy. The vitamin B6 in bananas helps with protein metabolism and promotes muscle recovery. They also contain fiber (especially soluble fiber) and oligosaccharides, which can increase the number of beneficial bacteria in the gut and help improve gut health.
2️⃣ Frozen Mango
Mangoes are rich in vitamin C and have antioxidant properties, making them effective for improving skin health and boosting immunity. They also contain fiber, which helps regulate the digestive system and can assist with relieving constipation.
3️⃣ Frozen Mixed Berries (Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries)
The polyphenols in berries are effective for preventing spots and wrinkles and fighting signs of aging. Particularly, strawberries are rich in vitamin C—more so than lemons! Raspberries are high in fiber, which supports gut health. Blueberries contain anthocyanins, which help relieve eye strain and support vision.
4️⃣ Kale (Spinach or Komatsuna is fine too)
Kale, often called the "king of vegetables," is incredibly nutrient-dense, containing abundant beta-carotene, vitamin C, and polyphenols. It also has calcium, comparable to that found in milk, and vitamin K, which helps with calcium absorption, making it ideal for preventing osteoporosis. Additionally, it contains iron, and when consumed with vitamin C, the absorption rate increases.
5️⃣ Oats
As mentioned in my previous article👇
6️⃣ Greek Yogurt
Greek yogurt contains about twice the protein of regular yogurt. It has fewer carbohydrates, helping prevent spikes in blood sugar while promoting a feeling of fullness. Rich in vitamin B2, it supports beautiful skin and energy metabolism, and its high calcium content helps maintain bone density and prevent osteoporosis.
7️⃣ Almonds
Almonds are considered a superfood for beauty, health, and dieting. They contain high-quality fats, with about 70% of the fat being unsaturated fatty acids, which help reduce cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, improving circulation. This helps prevent arteriosclerosis, heart disease, and cancer. Unsaturated fatty acids also activate brain function, making them helpful for preventing stroke and dementia. Almonds are extremely rich in vitamin E (about three times the daily recommended amount), helping prevent spots, wrinkles, and UV damage. Additionally, they contain magnesium, which aids in muscle recovery and nerve relaxation, and iron and zinc, which help prevent anemia and support metabolism.
8️⃣ Walnuts
Walnuts are the richest in omega-3 fatty acids among nuts. They support brain function, improving memory and concentration. They also help improve blood flow, which aids in preventing arteriosclerosis. Furthermore, walnuts contain the highest amount of polyphenols among nuts. They are also rich in fiber, magnesium, zinc, and iron.
9️⃣ Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are a superfood rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and plant-based protein. When soaked in water, they expand up to 10 times their size, helping prevent overeating and keeping you full for longer, making them ideal for weight loss. With about 34% fiber, they promote gut health and a happy stomach. The fats in chia seeds are about 60% omega-3 fatty acids, and their calcium content is about six times that of milk, while their iron content is about twice that of spinach, making them an incredibly nutritious food.
🔟 Soy Milk
Soy milk is a beauty and health drink rich in plant-based protein, soy isoflavones, and B vitamins. The soy isoflavones help balance hormones and support menopausal symptoms. They act similarly to estrogen (female hormones), which helps ease menopause. Additionally, soy milk has a low glycemic index, preventing rapid spikes in blood sugar, which reduces fat accumulation and helps prevent snacking. It contains lots of fiber and oligosaccharides, promoting gut health, boosting immunity, and building a body that resists fatigue.
This is the basic recipe, but depending on the day, I sometimes add extra ingredients like apples, oranges, or grapes, kiwi fruits. I might also add some Kinako (roasted soy flour) for extra protein or throw in some protein powder. Occasionally, I overfill the blender with too many ingredients, and it just won’t blend properly! 💦
That being said, as I’m writing this, I’m honestly impressed with how nutritionally rich this smoothie is! 😅
The crushed nuts and the creaminess of soy milk, the oat flavor, and the chia seeds that absorb liquid and give that nice chewy texture all mix together perfectly.
In our household, we also eat cereals along with this smoothie, but on days when we’re really pressed for time, just drinking this smoothie gives a huge energy boost.
For those who don’t have time in the morning, those like me who can’t eat a heavy breakfast first thing, or people who don’t have nut allergies, I highly recommend this smoothie. Of course, you can also make a delicious smoothie without oats.
Why not give it a try?✌️😀
