Let me introduce myself, I am invention designer Yuji Imai!

Thank you for reading again today!
This time, I will introduce myself like a 'story'!

Of course, rest assured? that it is all a true story ^^

The Beginning

Born in January 1985
When I was little, around 5 years old, I loved making things.

At 11 years old, in my sixth year of elementary school
I decided, 'I will make invention my job!'

A teacherwho saw through my characteristics
'Could you create a welcome project for the new first-graders?'asked me, and that became the trigger, because I realized that
'the joy of making others happy'

is'many times happier than making things just for myself!'

'I want to make things and make people happy!'
I thought about what the best way to maximize that would be.

The answer I came up with was 'invention'.
'If it's an invention, even after I die,
it can continue to be useful to the Earth and people!'

Thus,
from age 11 until I became an adult,
'invention'I took action to make it my job.

However, the path to making invention my job was extremely difficult.

'Make invention my job!'Even though I said that, it is not a familiar profession.
I didn't know of any schools for that,
and I couldn't think of any companies that did various kinds of inventions.

I vaguely had the image that'scientist'was the closest thing,
so for the time being, I made scientist my goal.

However, when I became a junior high student, a big problem was discovered!

'Science' is my best subject, but
'Math' is my worst!
'English' is my second worst!

Furthermore, even in science, when it comes to physics and chemistry, calculations appear!

So I 'changed my strategy'.

For English, my strategy was to change my environment to learn it.

For math, I changed my policy.

Since I achieved the remarkable feat of ranking last in my grade on a high school midterm exam, I decided to study "intellectual property rights" instead of
studying math.
(By the way, I ranked first in my grade on the "biology" test during the same period.)

*What are intellectual property rights?

Things like patents, copyrights, and designs.
That is the knowledge necessary to make "invention" my "job".

That's when I realized.

Successful inventions have something in common!
That is, they have good "design"!

・Easy to understand
・Easy to use
・Cool
Without these, an invention will not easily spread!

When you master invention, the design elements become stronger.
When you master design, the invention elements become stronger.

Therefore, I decided to learn product design for the sake of invention.

A new trial arose here as well!

The art university entrance exam not only had a high competition rate (about 15 times), but
you couldn't get in unless you were good at "drawing"! I had only been creating, not drawing!!

My mentor in the design world

At Tama Art University's product design department, I was taken care of by various teachers.
In particular, I was saved many times by a great teacher who earned the title of world's number one car designer, from the time I entered until after I graduated, and I gradually learned the power of design, and most importantly,

how to be a designer
.

However, society was not that easy!

After finding employment, I lost my job due to an economic crisis, and between changing jobs or starting a business,

I chose the path of entrepreneurship.

In 2011, I established "Invention Design Laboratory Co., Ltd.",
a design company specializing in inventions!
However, this is where it got difficult.

Further trials

I worked as an "invention designer," but it was an industry no one knew about. Zero name recognition.
Making a profit was not easy.

"I might be out of business by next month!"

Even though I was pushed to the brink many times, I was saved by benefactors and friends.

Work in new product and new technology development

Thanks to your introductions and requests, I have been able to overcome challenges.

Signs of a comeback

As a new product technology development advisor

I have also been invited as an advisor for new product development at great companies, and I have been building a track record!

Recent challenges

In 2022, I took on the challenge of the 'Inno-vation' program sponsored by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, which has a 1% acceptance rate!

I earned the title of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications certified 'Inno-Beta'!

After four rounds of selection, I was successfully certified!

Future challenges

However, my name recognition and sales are still not stable.

Due to the nature of my work, which requires confidentiality, I have hesitated to share information on the web until now,

Making the impossible possible!

I started this note with the desire to share the lessons I learned on the path of 'invention' with the world and to have you know about them!

And,

The ultimate goal
'New technology that will continue to be useful to the Earth and people even after I am gone'

To leave this behind!

I am still developing every day!

So that I can give you
fragments of good ideas and materials for your good days.
