The secret to using X healthily is to always be the one posting.
The secret to using X healthily is to always be the one posting.
X is certainly convenient. You can share your thoughts instantly. Whether you are famous or unknown, you can sell your services or even find job opportunities.
However, the reality is that there are major downsides in exchange for that convenience.
One of them is the system where earning impressions is justice.
Stirring up conflict or criticizing others with malicious clips.
Even if there is no basis for it when you think about it calmly, praise-filled comments overflow due to emotional reactions.
It might be a human instinct, but there are times when we end up watching these things.
I mean, doesn't it just make you tired?
If you want to use X healthily, I don't think you should be on the viewing side.
To be precise,
Posting: 70%, Viewing: 30%
is a better ratio to aim for.
(If that's difficult, maybe 60% posting is fine.)
Well, in reality, it's quite difficult not to mindlessly scroll through posts.
But precisely because it's difficult, you must at least be on the posting side.
The goal is what matters most.
Controversies seem to be profitable
I recently learned that successfully causing a controversy leads to money.
This article states the following.
It enables users to earn rewards through likes, comments, and shares, or by posting sponsored content, which is linked to an increase in rage-bait.
Omitted
Some creators will do anything to get more views, even if it is negative or triggers people's anger and resentment.
In other words, regardless of whether the content is correct or if it hurts others, revenue is generated if you get impressions (likes, comments, etc.).
You can also promote your services in the heated comment section.
*Even though it's also an SNS, note doesn't have this kind of system. That's why I think it can be used with relative peace of mind.
First, a premise to be aware of is that
a controversy does not necessarily happen because the target is at fault.
Unknowingly, every time you like, view, or comment, you might be generating revenue for someone malicious.
Of course, this isn't always the case, but I think it's important to use it while understanding the structure.
In the first place, it's just a small group of people hyping things up
Another thing to be aware of is that
a controversy is something carried out by a very small number of users.
The X algorithm just makes it look like the majority opinion.
Politically extreme content is actually generated by a very small fraction of the user base, but the algorithm can amplify it as if it were the majority.
You unconsciously get the illusion that this opinion is the majority.
When that happens, even though it's actually a minority opinion, it leads to thoughts like:
'I should say that too'
'I disagree, but I'll keep quiet'
'The world is a scary place'
It might lead to that kind of thinking.
I think it depends on the person, but I don't believe it has a positive impact.
Personally, when I see negative and dogmatic posts, my emotions flare up for a moment, but I feel exhausted afterward.
Also, some people might think,'I'm afraid of getting dogpiled...'but in most cases, that doesn't happen at all, does it?
I think it just looks like it's always buzzing because of the algorithm.I believe that's the case.
If you're going to use X, be the one posting.
This is just the trick I use for X.
That is,to be the one posting.
I want to enjoy the benefits of X while avoiding the downsides.
If so, I need to be prepared to keep posting.
If you already have some track record, your posts might be centered around that.
Even if you don't have visible achievements yet, post about what you're working hard on or what you've realized.
It's not about thinking...
'Who am I to post?'
'Nobody's going to look at it anyway...''I don't want to be made fun of...'
That's not it.
Once you understand the downsides of X,
if you still have a reason to use it, there's no point unless you're always the one posting.
If you post,
・It becomes a record of your actions
・Your thoughts get organized
・It becomes an insight for someone else
Because you base your usage on posting,
I think you can also receive information from others with a sense of purpose.
If you are going to use SNS (especially X, etc.), be proactive, not passive.
There are times when I get dragged into it too, so
I will have the courage to post.
