Give yourself a gold star for being imperfect today.
The process of building something little by little is incredibly fun.
I'm currently working on my second Kindle book.
It's an essay about traveling across Africa.
I think about how I can get it to people,
writing, editing, and refining the text.
There are times when I get a little tired of it and stop, wondering what I'm even doing,
but even so, the process of seeing the ideas in my head take shape little by little is fun.
Of course, since I'm making it,
I'd be happy if even one person said it was interesting.
But at the same time,
I want to cherish more the small, personal moments of excitement I feel as I go through that process,
like 'I managed to finish writing the text!'
or 'I made a cover image!'
or 'I thought of a title!'
That's what I suddenly thought.
Yesterday, I was using trial and error to figure out how to make a cover image.
Kindle books are inevitably text-heavy, and this one has a lot of text, too.
That makes visual images important, but
I've always felt insecure about image editing and design,
so honestly, I was dreading it.
But when I tried using Canva, it turned out pretty well!
Even though I'm not good at it, I think about what I can do and give it a try.
When I do that, the moment comes when I think, 'I did it!'
Turning ideas into shape little by little is a truly fun thing.
It's the same for everything, not just Kindle.
Even with cooking, you make it imagining the moment someone will say 'It's delicious!',
but there must also be joy in the process of making it.
For example, with piano or guitar,
when you can play a phrase you couldn't yesterday, you can feel the excitement of 'I did it!'
This is an excitement that no one else can understand.
It can't be measured by numbers, and it won't be evaluated.
But it is a sense of accomplishment and growth that today's me—and only me—can absolutely feel.
Isn't it very important to cherish that more and more and be proud of that excitement?
It's the same with note,
who sees it and how many people see it is important.
But is that really all there is to it?
When you manage to properly put your muddled feelings into words, a small sense of excitement like 'I wrote it!' should well up.
Even when you're busy, there must be a small sense of accomplishment when you manage to post something.
I want to cherish those things more and more.
Even if no one sees it, even if it's not evaluated,
I will cherish my own excitement.
I will put it into words.
If I do that, I think I can feel excited every single day.
That's what I thought.
