I feel like in the beginning, I was only looking at the numbers.

“How many people joined today?”
“Was this article read?”
“Next is 1,000, 2,000...”

But it’s strange.

As I kept going, even though I was supposed to be looking at numbers, I ended up looking at people instead.

Those who read while commuting in the morning.

Those who read on nights when they are a little tired from work.

Those who read quietly, even without leaving a “like” or a comment.

I cannot see them, but there are moments when I can feel their presence.

Writing is a mysterious thing.

Even if you have never met, you can be saved by someone’s words.

And while I intended to be the one delivering, I was actually receiving so much.

Encouraged by comments,

Supported by the words, "I feel the same way,"

and encouraged by the articles of other creators.

That is why I have been thinking lately.

The number 4,500 is not just a number,

but perhaps 4,500 connections, 4,500 instances of support, and 4,500 small lights.

I would be happy if the words I wrote, thinking they might not reach anyone, made someone's day a little lighter somewhere.

There have always been people behind the numbers.

And I have been supported by those people.

4,500 people.
