A Cup of Coffee at Twilight
I finished my work as usual and left the office at the usual time.
A daily routine that never changes.
Is it really okay for me to just go on like this? I thought about that as I headed home.
Let's try taking a different route home today. I don't know why, but I just felt like doing that today.
As I walked where my heart led me, a vending machine caught my eye.
There was a coffee I recognized lined up inside.
"I've always loved this coffee."
I recalled a nostalgic memory of my father, who passed away six months ago.
"Even if things aren't going well in life, wishing for something is free. Start by wishing for something. That's a lesson for life."
Did he really say that?
Illuminated by the setting sun, I suddenly realized that tears were spilling from my eyes.
"Maybe I'll try my best again starting tomorrow, since wishing for something is free after all."
I felt like the 160 yen I casually held out had given me a push.
