What "Entertainment" Means to Me

When you hear the word "Entertainment,"
many of you might think of singing, dancing, or television.

However, the Entertainment that Beauty Japan values
feels like it has a much broader meaning.

"Enriching people's hearts."

I really love this phrase.

I create picture books.
But these are not just picture books for reading stories.

A company's vision.
Local history.
Someone's life.

I take important, invisible thoughts and feelings
and deliver them in the form of a picture book.

If a child who reads the book thinks,

"This company is wonderful,"
or "This town is a great place,"

then their heart must have become a little bit richer.
It is the same with my workshops.

Participants engage in dialogue with one another,

discover their own feelings,
and touch upon someone else's life.
By the time they go home,

the world looks a little kinder.
That is the kind of time I want to provide.

Until just recently,

I was worried about my skills, thinking,
"If I'm not good at drawing..." or "If I can't master more art materials..."

I was only concerned with technique.
But while challenging myself in BJ, I faced myself deeply and realized that the value of Kotohogi does not lie there.

For me, Entertainment is not just about entertaining people,
but about creating moments that remain in people's hearts.
That is what Entertainment means to me.

And through Kotohogi,
I want to continue delivering small lights to the hearts of many people.
