Finally started studying about money and throwing it into index funds via NISA one after another
Think about it carefully~
Money is important~
There used to be a commercial like this.
I think it was an insurance commercial.
That is certainly true.
Money is truly important.
However, there are rarely opportunities to "think about it carefully."
Time melts away in an instant due to work, hobbies, and various other things.
And things that are important but not urgent get pushed to the back burner.
I'll think about it tomorrow.
I'll think about it during the long weekend.
I just keep thinking that, but time flows by moment by moment.
Like that, before I knew it, I had been a working adult for over 10 years.
Naturally, my relatives and friends have aged just the same.
And what I think about is the future.
What do I want to do from now on? How will I handle my parents' nursing care?
What about the tuition for my siblings' children?
No matter what kind of life you lead, you need money.
And money has a huge impact on human relationships as well.
There are things that dreams, ideals, and the closeness you feel right now cannot cover.
In fact, it is more unbearable when people who were "so close" destroy their relationship over money.
And there is no way I could endure becoming a party to such an event myself.
I am someone who worries about what others think, thinks too much about the other person, and on top of that, imagines all sorts of bad scenarios.
I don't want a life where I worry every day about "money," something that is difficult to recover once lost.
That is why I finally started studying about money.
The defined contribution pension from my previous job that I left alone without thinking.
Well, writing this out specifically is like declaring, "I haven't studied money until now."
And that is actually the case.
I have continued to spend money on immediate entertainment and vanity.
My salary should have gone up, but there is little money left in my hands.
And I hardly ever review that.
The prime example was when I quit my previous job.
I was transferring my defined contribution pension during the resignation process.
And when I looked at the balance, it hadn't increased much.
That is no surprise; I had left it alone for nearly 10 years, following the plan recommended in the guidance when I joined the company.
・If you don't want to lose money, use a savings account.
・If you want to take risks and increase it, use an active fund.
・Since you live in Japan, investing in Japan is safe.
Thinking about it now, that was sloppy logic on my part.
And my pension, which I left alone with about half in active funds targeting Japan in the 2010s, did not grow at all.
I will mention this later, but I should have just put everything into index investments targeting the global economy.
The monthly contribution amount is small, but it will make a big difference after 10 years.
It looks like a difference of several million yen will be created.
The more I study money and investment, the more I regret that I should have reviewed it sooner.
As someone who hates hassle, I just silently pour it into index funds.
So, let's get back to the present.
To repeat, I want to stay home in the future.
A life of continuing to interact with many people, let alone an unspecified number of people, seems exhausting.
Rather than that, I want to continue to connect deeply with a small number of people who I feel a connection with.
However, nothing will change just by wishing for this.
An oil tycoon who understands my heart completely will not fall from the sky.
On the other hand, fortunately, I have a decent income and have saved up quite a bit of surplus money.
So now is the time to study money.
For that reason, I am reading through books on investment.
However, the more I read, the more the conclusion is just one.
Pour it into index investment and wait for a long time.
Simple.
No ingenuity or anything.
But it is a powerful conclusion.
I used to think that investment was something where skilled day traders made a ton of money.
But in reality, it seems quite different.
It seems better to leave it to an index, which is an economic indicator, rather than leaving it to a trader who is smart and has a lot of past knowledge.
But when you think about it, it's natural.
・Humans always make mistakes; there is no one who is 100% correct.
・You cannot perfectly predict the future from the past (the future is an extrapolation).
・Even if there is a secret technique, if everyone imitates it, it will be reflected in the movement of the entire market and will eventually lose its effect.
・You cannot move something as huge as the market by yourself (even President Trump, with his big mouth, follows the market).
In other words, rather than trying to do something with human power, it is better to follow the big flow of the world.
For that reason, I poured quite a bit into the index.
Of course, there are times when the world economy slows down, and as long as it is an investment, there are times when it becomes negative.
But I receive a salary every month, and there is no such thing as being in trouble tomorrow because the money in the investment has decreased.
In the first place, even if it decreases, it won't become empty.
If the world economic index drops by 50%, it means the economy is already collapsing.
Also, a life of staring at charts every day doesn't suit me, as I hate hassle.
At most, it's just right to look at world trends and choose an index limited to some industries.
For me, there is no difference between savings and NISA in terms of leaving them alone.
In that case, because we are in a world where inflation is progressing, I think it is better to pour quite a bit into NISA.
I wonder what it will be like in 10 years.
I just hope the world develops.
