I received a karaoke baton
Good morning, everyone.
On weekdays, I work as a capable secretary at the Tokushima University Cell Biology Department, also known as Yoneken. I'm Abemyon.
So, today.
I received a baton from Mieharu-san, who is also my senior at the university, so shall we give it a try?
・List 1 to 5 of your favorite songs
・Any song is fine (Although this is a karaoke project, in extreme cases, classical, folk songs, or jazz are also acceptable)
・Post a YouTube link (try to pick one that doesn't seem likely to be deleted...💕)
・Add the hashtag "#MieharuKaraokeLateSummerVersion" (It's embarrassing, but💦)
・Please copy and paste the URL of Chainner-san's article above and this article of mine🖥️
So, with that said.
Unfortunately, I've been busy and haven't been able to make plans for this fiscal year yet, but
for the past few years, I've been taking a weekday off during my birthday month.
I spend time just for myself, and that is,
Solo karaoke
is what it is.
When I was a student, I could really project my voice.
Since I was in the volleyball club, I was shouting every day. I've even been told that while I'm welcome to sing, I shouldn't hold the microphone because my volume was too loud.
However, after getting married, I stopped going to karaoke entirely. Going with someone else feels like a hassle, or maybe it's just embarrassing. I have to be considerate. Plus, I don't know any recent songs.
That's what I used to think.
But when I gathered the courage to go to solo karaoke, it was actually really great.
If I don't sing well, I can just delete it. I can play my favorite songs as many times as I want.
Actually, I don't want to go with anyone else anymore. I feel like I only want to go alone.
So, I would like to select 5 songs
from Abeno's solo karaoke sessions.
Kishidan's One Night Carnival
This is the song I sang as the very first song of my first-ever solo karaoke experience, a memorable occasion.
It had been a while since I last went to karaoke. With limited time, I put together a setlist so I wouldn't waste a single minute or second and wouldn't have any regrets.
For the first song, I had actually chosen a different one, but
"No. Actually, let's go with One Night Carnival. I should get in the mood."
I thought.
To conclude, it was a failure (lol). It's not for beginners, haha.
Since the rates are cheap on weekdays until 12:00 PM, I started my solo karaoke session right when they opened. There were no other customers besides me (because I went while they were preparing to open). I was shown to a small private room very close to the register.
If I order drinks, the staff will come in, so I chose the drink bar. I thought I was safe with this, but.
Wait a minute, how much sound is leaking out?
The staff can hear everything, right? I'm the only customer, right? Can they hear me... What should I do? While thinking about that during the intro... it starts.
Won't you come with me? YAHOO!
Wait, wait... I want to dance, but there's usually a camera, right? Is this it? Is this the camera? Are they watching? The staff will watch, right? Will they think, 'That person is dancing alone'? What should I do, what should I do.
While thinking that, I sing while slightly channeling Sho-yan. But it's embarrassing, so I keep my voice low... YAHOO...
As I continue singing shyly like that, the end approaches.
Sho-yan's long, long spoken part comes up.
Oh right... that's right, this... there's a spoken part...
No, this... if I had friends with me, it would be super exciting, but alone...
No way!!!!! I can't say this. It's embarrassing. Where is the camera? No, I can't do this~~~~
And so, it's a fond memory of singing it through while feeling shy about 'someone' the whole time. It's not suitable for the first song of a solo karaoke debut (I'd probably be fine with it now, though).
Next up
Hoshikuzu Scat - Shinjuku Chanson
I can sing this incredibly well.
This is also something I can only sing at solo karaoke.
Because it's suuuuper long.
But when I'm singing this, I am an actress.
I put it in about three times.
If you do this at a normal karaoke session, it's super annoying. People will hate you.
Next is this one
Fujii Kaze - Seishun Sick
I've reached the point where I can hum along to almost any Fujii Kaze song now.
There are times when I didn't notice it just by listening, but when I try to sing it, I think, 'Oh, this is tough, is this part really this low-pitched!?'
When I can't get the voice out, I can just watch the music video.
And then I dance along.
Next
Sheena Ringo - Carnation
I feel like Sheena Ringo has a lot of difficult songs, but I can sing Carnation without any problems, and I'm an actress when I sing this one too.
Next
Sharam Q - Iiwake
I tried challenging myself with AKB or Morning Musume songs at solo karaoke since I'd be too embarrassed to sing them in front of others, but it seems my voice is completely unsuited for that kind of idol singing style.
If anything, I seem more compatible with the producer side, Tsunku♂. I can sing it very well.
That's all.
A song selection for someone who definitely isn't popular (lol)
Because it's solo karaoke, after all! That was it (lol)
Well then...
Do I have to pass the baton on?
・If the baton comes your way, please do write an article ♫ ➡️ After that, please pass the baton to up to two people (I think it's easier to convey if you post the latest article of the person you want to pass the baton to 😅)
・If the baton came to you and you wrote an article, or if it came to you but you'd rather not write one... please pass the baton back to me or Chainner-san 😊
・If the baton came to you and you wrote an article, but you want to stop it here... please declare yourself as the anchor in your article 🙋
...That's what it is. I could have stopped it, though.
I thought I'd just reach out since I have the chance.
Please don't feel pressured to do this.
It seems you often attend live concerts and such,
so I'd love to know what kind of songs you sing yourself, Red-haired Chico-san.
I know you're busy with work, so feel free to do this if you're in the mood (^^♪
That's all for passing the baton~
