My husband and I tried the trending 'Voices' feature in Suno v5.5, and it resulted in self-imposed censorship

Suno, based in the U.S., released its latest version,
Suno v5.5, on March 26, 2026. Among its features,
Voices
, which allows you to generate songs using your own voice, is currently trending.

In this post, I'll share my thoughts after actually trying it out at home.

I don't usually touch Suno, but my husband 🎃 uses it to make music and seems to upload it to YouTube when he feels like it.
As his wife, I don't really know much about his posting frequency or how he manages his channel,
and for some reason, I don't pry too deeply into that—it's just the domain of our mysterious creator couple 🐰🎃.

Now, onto the main topic.

You can now make Suno sing with your own voice.

🐰: "Wait, what!? What does that mean!?"
🎃: "It means you can sing with your own voice."


🐰: "But if I'm tone-deaf... does that mean it'll still be tone-deaf?"
🎃: "No, no. It's your voice, but it'll sing skillfully."
🐰: "Then I want to try it! ♪"

So, I provided my singing voice that I had recorded on my iPhone and read the text displayed on Suno to verify my identity.
The official help page also provides instructions on how to upload or record audio and the verification reading process.

The authentication went through successfully, and I decided to have some of the songs my husband wrote sung with my vocals.

Husband: "This is terrible." 🤣🤣🤣

What a humiliation 🐰‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Conclusion: It's better to sing it yourself.

We both came to the conclusion that "it's better if the person themselves sings it..."

Is it because the songs my husband writes are too difficult, or is my singing voice just not good to begin with...?
No, the latter is a very real possibility.

I am aware that I am tone-deaf. 😭😆😭So then, my husband 🎃 gave it a try.


He recorded himself singing a song and tried to read the sentence for identity verification in the same way—

For some reason, the second identity verification was in English.

It was displayed in Japanese for me, but for my husband,
for some reason, an English sentence was displayed 😆My husband, who isn't good at English, struggled and read it out haltingly.

Unable to watch him struggle, I quietly went over to his side and supported him by whispering how to pronounce the spelling.

🎃"This is harassment against non-English speaking users!"

It finally passed authentication after several tries.
My husband worked hard. 🤭

Thoughts after testing it as a couple

As far as we tested it at home,
the fact that you can use your own voice is interesting.


However,it is not a magic feature that automatically makes anyone
sing well,
was our honest impression.

In particular, depending on the stability of the original singing
and how well your voice matches, you might end up with
"a humiliation that sounds more like yourself than you expected"
rather than just "awkward" 😂

Of course, there are people who have already made it sing
beautifully and published it, right? 💕


But for us, this time it resulted inself-censorship

Will the day ever come when Suno can make our singing voices
sound a little kinder and better...!?
