Wearing clothes for as long as possible through the choice of repairing. The story hidden behind the delivery options of "fitu".
Hello, I am Kamiya, the product owner of "fitu".
This time, I would like to share the background behind the birth of "fitu"'s delivery options.
The management reality of sewing factories I understood in my previous job
Many of the sewing factories I knew were living hand-to-mouth, and they kept their businesses running by pooling as many orders as possible.
Since my previous job dealt with custom-made suits, the factory manager told me directly that if there were no customer orders, they couldn't send work to the factory, which made management difficult for them.
Therefore, the sewing factories operated on a hybrid model, taking orders for ready-made products while also handling custom orders.
At that time, the factory manager often said:
"Orders that allow for a longer delivery time are helpful for management."
"I understand the needs of customers who want things quickly, but it is difficult to manage if we align too much with that."
I heard these statements.
As a factory manager, he understood the customers' needs painfully well. But it is a fact that there is a dilemma where he cannot fulfill them from a management perspective.
Because he carries the burden of the lives of the people working at the factory.

User needs regarding delivery time
The faster the delivery, the better.
I think that is an undeniable fact.
However, if delaying the delivery time leads to a lower price or includes a bonus, the logic that faster is always better changes.
I understood from planning and operating past B2C services that people can be somewhat flexible if you add some positive elements.
However, in previous services, I could not implement that equivalent exchange as a service or option.
That was because I was exhausted by internal coordination, such as "Is there really a need?" or "Aren't there other things that should be prioritized?"
However, this time, since I decided to act with discretion as the product owner, I am building services and options in the direction I believe is correct.

The birth of delivery options
To review the background of why the delivery options were launched, there are the following two points.
To contribute to domestic sewing and repair factories that are closing one after another
To provide price benefits by extending delivery times and increase the repair rate
The textile industry is beginning to decline significantly.
The aging of craftsmen with rare domestic skills, and the closure of sewing factories.
There is even a fear that valuable assets will disappear if things continue like this. I sincerely want to take action if there is something we can do.
※Data currently being prepared※
In a world of mass production and mass consumption, I want the option of repair to be treated on the same level as the means of buying new things cheaply.
To achieve that, it is also necessary to devise ways to lower repair prices.
I sincerely hope for a society where the means of repairing is chosen for as many items as possible by adjusting delivery times to lower repair costs.

Wearing clothes for as long as possible through the choice of repairing
Performing the act of repairing can contribute to the textile industry, contribute to the environment, and strengthen the connection with your own clothes.
Newly made clothes are also wonderful. That fact remains unchanged.
However, I want you to give the choice of repairing the same priority.
To do that, effort and ingenuity are required from us who are involved in the repair industry.
It is necessary to rack our brains and work on this, not just with delivery options.
(I am writing this as a reminder to myself.....)

Finally
The delivery options reflect the thoughts and ideas of many people. I would be happy if you could learn about the reality of the apparel industry and what is happening through "fitu".
Also, for those who are about to buy new clothes, please take a look at your closet once. If you have clothes that you can wear if repaired, or clothes that you can wear if you add some changes, please consult "fitu"!
