Why do working adults study?
Good morning.
Waking up at 5 a.m. to the energetic chirping of cicadas is
a truly wonderful way to start the morning.
I am a nurse raising a month-and-a-half-old baby.
I am currently on maternity leave, and while taking care of my baby,
I study for three hours just before going to bed at night.
As for what I am studying,
I am deepening my knowledge of psychology and nursing.
People around me tell me,
It's amazing that you're studying while raising a child, and it's admirable that you're studying even as a working adult,
but I think,
this is a rare period where I can receive maternity benefits without going to work,
and spend my time without worrying about schedules or quotas.
It's not often you get a period like this, is it?
Childcare is tough, but
nursing times and playing with my child
provide a nice contrast to my studies throughout the day, don't you think?
For that reason,
I am using this maternity leave to deepen my learning every day.
When you learn, you gain knowledge.
When you gain knowledge, your perspective changes.
When you notice new aspects of things,
it makes you happy and you want to know more.
You get to meet people who share the same way of thinking.
There are so many benefits to it.
I also love the sound of turning pages
and the feeling of writing things down.
I thought there were many people who worked hard to get qualifications or studied even after becoming working adults,
but based on the reactions to my Instagram stories,
I felt that there are surprisingly few.
By the way, my purpose for studying is to obtain a bachelor's degree.
This is my goal and a stepping stone.
Once I get my bachelor's degree, I want to work hard on studying to become an international nurse and learning English.
Studying is truly fun.
I didn't like studying when I was in high school,
so I wonder why that is.
Finding what I truly want to do
must be the big driving force behind it.
